Wanted to add to the pattern sharing, Retro Aprons is a book I happened upon on ebay, I haven't found a store to buy it at yet so I'll probably have to order it online.

Do any of you ladies have any tips on resizing a pattern? I want to put together the MJ Everyday Apron but I've got a few friends, and myself, with waists larger than 32" so I'm going to have to enlarge it a bit. Do I need to enlarge it all the way around or just at the waist and bust areas? When I think about it it doesn't seem like I'd widen the neck and over the shoulder area but I've never done something like this so I'm just not sure. And do you know how much I'd add per size I need to go up?

I picked up some fun fabrics at Joann's yesterday and I'm looking forward to trying them out on this new pattern!

What seems to make it a difficult one to put on?

Thanks Jess, Good to know tha about the Everyday apron.

Resizing that apron... depending on how much boobage I would make it longer, you may want to make it an inch or so wider.... but I would make the sides "to fit".. you can alsochange the angle on the skirt part to make it have more of an a-line fullness.

Bev, Glad to see you back. Too bad your trip was a bust, but you always have next week. SO how far is NYC from you?

welll...you have to reach around behind you to put it on...in a very awkward way..the button holes and the buttons are just not ergonomically correct, but cute apron once on...i think i have 2 of that one on this thread..like a dozen pages back and i have 3 more cut out!

shoot, the hot pink "Retro Apron" is like the bazillion "hard working aprons" that
Jess makes. I love that style~you can keep it simple or gussy it up with trims.
(finish the mini's first, Bonne.......)

Hey Everyone,

Jess,

I hate that you and baby aren't feeling well. Healing thoughts for you and babe are on the way. Thanks, I love working with the ribbons......one of my best simplest creations

Bev,

OMG! I know how your legs and feet much hurt today..I'd need a wheelchair if I was cut loose in NYC...LOL Next week you have to hit some fabric shops for sure. Do you teach a nursing class or what? Have fun at the Quilt show.

Leezard, the www.save-on-crafts.comsite also has good deals on books and much more..very nice site.

Ok, now going to decide what apron is next

Hi all, back from the PA Quilter's Extravaganza....you were all there with me in spirit....but I really wish you could have actually been there......I walked around like a kid in a candy store.......vendors, vendors, vendors. No, I showed no restraint....well, maybe a little, but...here are the fabrics that followed me home...

I should probably be flogged!!

E....I live 3 1/2 hours from NYC. But, we drive part of the way and hop on a train for $6 that takes us into the city in 40 minutes.....then no parking or driving hassles in the city. Ride the subway with an all day pass.....easy as pie.....except for some reason, yesterday we decided to walk instead! My feet are killing me!!!

Jess....hope you and the wee one are feeling better!!!!

Stephanie....as you can see, the quilt show was amazing. You asked what I teach....on Thursday evenings I teach a pre-op preparedness class for patients undergoing total knee replacement. It is one of those surgeries that requires a lot of patient cooperation with the rehab, so, I figure, the more informed the patients are, the more compliant they will be. It is great fun because the patients are always very appreciative. I volunteer my time for this program (having started the program about 5 years ago) because I strongly feel that there is a great need for this type of thing.

Jess,

Don't let anyone flush the toilet!

Bev,

I think people come through surgery and rehab much better when their spirits are spoke to as well and that's what you are doing with this class. They know that someone really does care about how they come through it

The Pigs are totally funky and I love it..LOL

The pink fabric at the top is the same fabric as that pink Buckarettes fabric that I think a few of us got.....the one with the names of the cowgirls on it...only this one is the horses!

Love those horses! Lots of goodies there.
Good for you with the preop classes~with all the aging baby-boomers (me!)
and their aging joints, that's one class that will always be full(or should be).

Jess, gotta love when school is back in sesson and everyone shares the germs.
I used to always get sick in Sept. after my son started back to school. First cold
of the season..........blah!

i Love that one! the Ducks are adorable too..
& the old school themed one too..
Who had that? Elizabeth? or was it Katie on your Blog?
hhhmm.. anyway.. all so sweet Bev!

& yes.. Smiling more today feeling better..
i felt great yesterday.. just weep.. weep weep.. Shirleys Tea Towel did me in I think & opened the flood gates.. All better now.. I'm back at work & biting people's head off.. Yep.. They better be afraid!

Steph.. I DID get thing done yesterday!!
ALLLLL of my Halloween Mini's are done.. & then some.. SO Awesome I CAN'T STAND IT!! I finished a regular Halloween Apron except the waist band..A really sweet yellow one for a Girl at work.. (no waist band again ).. & One I have for a Barter!! I decided to attempt you Girls' reversible with my Famous 'V' style Apron!! SO damn cool i can't get over it!.. SHE gets the Proto -type! & it's Lovely.. I'll get pictures of all three though before they leave the house.. NONE have a waist band though.. I'm REALLY having issues with my Waist bands!
& it's starting to really piss me off!

ok.. kinder.. gentler Kathie..

Oh.. Jessica Dear.. I really wish you were feeling better Sweet Heart..
Maybe you should nap pumpkin.. or.. possibly just lie back with a warmed herbal compress across your face.. close your eyes.. & think happy thoughts.. you know.. Sweet things like.. oh.. barns.. with nice dangeling things in them.. there.. close your eyes.. better now?

Dangle-ing things in barns??!! Sounds lewd!! ROFL!! where are these barns?

Yes, please show your "v" reversible! I'm loving the reversibles because they don't need
any edge finishing, they feel sturdier, and yes, you can mess one side and **poof** presto chango~you're fresh and clean again!!
