Sharon, I know what you mean...well I did enjoy wine and everything else when I was much much younger but completely quit all of it 10 years ago. My blood pressure went sky high and the doc's couldn't get it controlled...it's under control now though. good grief..funny how folks can put a label on you for what you do or don't do.

I think I get more strange looks and responses these days when I ask for a cup of hot tea..LOL Most look at me like I'm from Mars especially when I pull out my own teabag

I haven't found any teahouses around here to frequent.

lol Stephanie. My son likes his hot tea. Now, I did drink tea at one point, but I hated it. It was called Red Tea, I think. I was told that by drinking it every day during pregnancy, that child birth would be a lot easier and delivery time shorter. My ob kind of placed a bet on me. He didn't think that it would affect the delivery. Well, I went in at 5:30 or 6:30 in the morning and had my son at about 7:17 am.

ob's really have no idea what helps labor. i am sorry, but when it comes to women and how they work, if everything is normal they have not a clue. my babes are all born here and we are all better off. i wish we could revamp the way women view their pregnancies so they are more responsible for themselves. good for you sharon! 2 thumbs up.

Jessica. I heard about the Red Raspberry Tea (just thought of the tea) at a birthing class. Not sure from whom.

Here is some information on it.

So Jess- do ya use a midwife ? My 5th was born at home and I had a midwife. Laws here are very weird now- they make it illegal unless its an accident.
I also did the raspberry tea- but it didnt really shorten my labor- 10 hrs or so. Thats about normal for all of mine.
He was the biggest -so was his big MAma!!!

Yeah, Jess, I was a real oddball back in '85 when I
insisted on seeing midwives instead of obgyn drs. and
said "no drugs". LOL
Wouldn't have done it any other way.

yes all 7 of mine were born at home with my 2 midwives and a crowd of friends. my last one was born with just 1 midwife, my husband and my sister because she was so super fast. 1... 40 minute contraction and the 10 pounder popped right out. And Indiana is one of the last 12 states to have archaic laws also. It is totally illegal to have homebirth assisted by trained midwife, but if you know my neighbor who has not a clue assisted, she would be a hero. My midwives are very well trained and know more than the average obgyn. But our prosecutors are always watching and trying to hang em high like they are practicing witchcraft or something. So no drugs for me, with help from people who are educated, I find it works for thousands of women. I have been heavily involved in the homebirth community for 11 yrs now and find women who become empowered where they previously felt powerless. I would really be the last one who would just sit back and take whatever they tell me anyway!

Hey Lisa, Thanks for the kitty kleenex assistant..LOL I've got a box of kleenex at every stop...LOL

I've got a friend in Mobile, Alabama who is a Doula and is studying for her midwifery. And yes, unfortunately the Doula's and Midwife's are not what the docs like to see..LOL

My DIL is pregnant and plans to have a tub birthing experience...Any of y'all know ladies that have done this??

yes i had my #2 in the tub and so do several of the ladies I know. They are very comfortable, however it does depend on the birth you are having. my 2nd was awesome, but i never did it again because that is not what was comfy with the others..you have to take it 1 birth at a time. but if that is what she ends up doing, she will love it, it feels almost as though nothing is happening.

My daughter wears a shirt I made for her that says....

Hey Stephanie
I sent you an ecard - did you get it??

Linda- did ya have a good birthday?

I have successfully wasted 8 hrs sewing a dress that should have taken 2 hrs and I just threw it away!!!!!!
I have tried to go by the book but my body is not in the book, apparently!! I rigged it everypossible way after following directions and now it's not even fit for the thrift store- I wouldnt insult them by taking it there!!!
I officially throw in the towel!
Its craft /apron and other non-wearables from now on!!!!!

Blessings,
Autumn

I made myself a new dolly for my birthday. I used the same pattern as for the Bees without Borders traveling doll.
Mine is about 27 inches tall and still bald, needing more face put on but she has a nice new dress and bloomers. I love her.
Got to find my camera and then I'll be able to take pics.

Jess, You can go over the BWOB henhouse and read all about the doll...This will be lots of fun..I remember when Linda first joined the group she was wanting to make a special doll so I think she's come up with the ultimate idea She will arrive at Bev's as a baby and as she travels from one person to the next she will grow into a little girl with all the gussied up clothing and accessories with many stories in her journal about her travels

post a pic when you do it..we have a huge collection of homebirth attire. we go to all the marches and rallies and such. When my first daughter was born we had very good pics that we made into slides and as the topic came up in the state house they used my slides and my husband spoke. It was really different to see yourself in that situation about 15 feet by 12 feet on the wall of the state house with all these old men staring in disbelief. I thought it was really hilarious. Does she plan on a birthing center tub, home tub, or one of those birthing tubs that they bring to your house and set up and then come get a few days later(the name escapes me right now)?
