Good morning All!!!

Well, I think I really threw my hubby for a loop last night. For the first time since we have been married....I turned into a different woman yesterday afternoon. After spending hours trying to assemble this #$#$%$ dang quilt table....metal parts everywhere....hotflashes....me stripping off clothes left and right......ugly scene.... Well, anyways he arrived home in the middle of that....of course I had not gotten any dinner together....cause I was on a mission.....AND I had class to teach last night, so I was bound and determined to get that blasted thing done before class...... Well, the poor man came bounding upstairs...you know...."HONEY I'm Home"....at which point I am supposed to leap into his arms and smother him with hugs and kisses....you know the drill.....wellllllllll. He came into the sewing room, took one look at the mess and offered to help...."don't even talk to me" I said...."I am really frustrated here and just about to blow a gasket". Well, the dear went back downstairs and heated up dinner (leftovers). Later on after hearing crashing metal and a few unmentionable explitives, he came upstairs and said "here, let me help". I had this one nut wedged in a piece of metal and it wasn't budging. Well, wouldn't you know, he picked up my sewing scissors ( the GOOD sewing scissors) and started to move toward that tangle mass of metal and nut as if he were going to actually USE my GOOD SCISSORS to dislodge the nut! Well, of course I had to signal the alarm....."PUT DOWN my scissors!" He said...."they're just scissors....we have plenty more....".

OK gals, now tell me, am I crazy here, or what? MY GOOD SCISSORS??????? All of us know that there are some things that are off limits....somethings for which one could get their arm broke if they mess with em. Right?????? But somehow, men just don't seem to understand these things. Well, I lost my help....he said I was mean and left me alone. I am really not mean....but come on.....the good scissors?????? Well, I finally finished the quilting table and hubby had licked his wounds.....all was well again.....
But I am just telling you.....if I had not been there to prevent the good scissors travesty, well, I'm not sure how it would have all ended up.

So, my dear hubby, I am sure went to sleep with this thought on his mind...."Yes, my wife really is crazy!" Oh well....you understand....it was the GOOD SCISSORS!!!!

LOL!!! Been there~done that..........on more than one occasion. I don't flip out as much as I used to, but hubby knows to avoid helping when it comes to the sewing area~sewing machines~etc.
It's like me getting my hands on his hand & power tools~I don't; I just ask politely how I should go about fixing this or that, and then he says, "I can do that for you" UNLESS it's a sewing machine.
The really frustrating thing , some of these "assembly required" items are very costly and you hate to screw them up, but it irks you that for the cost of them, why aren't they put together!!!??

Oh yes....been there, done it!!! That glazed over look in your eyes when "official" supplies are picked up for other purposes...LOL Thomas has dropped stuff in midstream when he sees my look.

I know setting up those quilting systems can be trying. I've been in the middle of that and that's when I told my friend I'd just bring stuff to her to quilt..I didn't want one of the monsters..LOL I commend you for getting it done!

Now no doubt you will have fun with it...there are such beautiful quilting designs to use with them.

Happy Belated Birthday Linda, hope you had a grand one.

Bev, I was very fortunate in the scissors training area. My dh's mom sewed and if you touched her sewing scissors the penalty was death!!!!!! So when I started he immediately asked which are the paper scissors and which are the sewing ones....lol
Yep, mine was trained well, now if someone had only taught him about using my good knife that I loved.....guess we can't have everything.....

Bev., I know exactly what you are talking about with the scissors, except it is my oldest son that I have problems with. He can't seem to keep his hands off of my things, especially the favorite sewing scissors.

Bev,
you are not nuts nor crazy!!!! A die hard seamstress knows to never ever cut anything but fabric with her shears! You don't spend $30 on a good pair of scissors and then cut paper with them, nor use them as a screwdriver...I think it might even be a "Felony" if you get caught doing so!! lol!
So... Husbands, Children & Well Meaning Family/Friends, DO NOT use Bev's good scissors for anything but fabric!
My DH learned this lesson a long time ago,,,, oh & Bev, I can go one further....why do husbands think it is ok to use our cuticle scissors for cuting things other then our cuticles? aacckk! I caught DH using mine to cut the plastic thingamahicky off a new jacket he had bought! I have forbidden him to rummage through my cosmetic drawer from that point on.
Husbands, gotta luv 'em! lol!

i grew up in a house where the sacred scissors were kept in a wood inlay box thatno one could touch! So it has never even crossed my mind that THE scissors would be used for anything else. And my kids just seem to know not to touch them...maybe I have made them fear the scissors as I go on and on about how they are so sharp and dangerous! Good luck to all of you who have less understanding people in your houses!

Jess: How is your dad? Hope he is fairing well and that you are all ok.

Happy birthday Linda!!! Was it a good day for you with everyone spoiling you?

Bev: Put an alarm on those scissors (and on yourself when the flashes come--"Please step away from the scissors and that steaming faced woman...")

It was good to catch up with you all. Florida was great and very warm and sunny. Looking forward to that in a few months here.

Stephanie: How are you feeling today?

My mother always had a piece of ribbon tied to her sewing scissors and we were told as children never to cut paper with them. It worked very well, and I have a bit of ribbon or something tied to all my sewing scissors, and my kids always knew they weren't to use them. Sometimes now I think I need bee[persw on my scissor, I keep burying them in my sewing bits and pieces. Hope all are well and warm, we got another 6 inches of snow yesterday but the wind is still, and the world looks lovely. Karin

No, Autumn, it is not controlling at all. I feel the same way as you, I like to know all my friends and family are where I can reach them. The trip was lovely and fun-filled, as well as relaxing.

Hi Bonne! I am even happy about the snow I came home to. It is nice today (high 30s) and we let the chickens out for their free time this afternoon since it is not snowing or too cold.
