she was a great gal, she sent baby caleb a baby blanket and everytime i look at it i think of her and her family. mom said that she was working on her kids hope chests the best she could for when they grew up. i was thinking of making them both a baby blanket for it. I already suggested making an extra set of mini's on the swap awhile back to send to the family.
later on i thought of asking her hubby what she didnt accomplish(like maybe a wedding ring quilt for each kid when they got married or something to that extent)

yeah i helped mom shovel and just about killed myself off. i had already shoveled off my roof. i was soooo pooped out today my hunny let me sleep in and i slept for 12 hours ok so i did get up for a short bit cause i hurt and had to take excederin.

so today seems calm compared to the week and its sunshiny on top of it. oh yeah and the snow is melting into huge puddles/lakes lol

yes, going to make some baby quilts for kids when they are older, and whatever else hits me. Does that make sense. She always gave to others and I want to pay it forward by doing the same.

Yeah, the roof leak is fixed and we will be doing more on the water after we have rested a bit, at this point tonight I don't care if it doesnt happen until tomorrow, I am just plain too exhausted to even think

Carrie, beleive it or not we are insulated, heat wrapped ectera. When it was in the -'s we got the leak, when we had to turn the water off to repair it we totally froze up the whole system. So you do what you have to do. We would really really like to do the radiante heat in the floor because the pipes would stay warm all winter. We would not have had to shovel off the roof if it hadn't been for the leak because ours is a curved roof.

It will all work out in the end, time and patience will do the job. I put on a big pot of stew for the next day or so. Then it will be doing all the clean up from all these adventures, but that is okay. Right now resting and letting the fibro have a break is more imperative in the long run. One of these days I will be sewing again and this will be all behind me....lol.

Carol Sue,

That sucks how one thing leads to another. Yes you will be sewing again. Take your well deserved rest and your daughter too.

What ages are Clare's kids? They have 2 right?

I'm thinking the idea of making things for the kids is a great one!
So many things that they will ....long for their momma to be there for... and she won't.
Graduations- weddings-first baby- all the big stuff.

Let me know what ya'll decide- I'm in on it!

Blessings,

Ronna, The lady at the store actually said about the rubbing alcohol also, so I may try that! I don't shop there much, but the slippers seemed decent enough to make it through the winter and I did not want to be running around looking for some at other stores, so I got them! I just could not get over the store policy on returns! I could see if I didn't have the tags and receipt, but I did! I won't be shopping there anymore! I know you are a good distance from me, but if you ever make it down towards Laughlin, we will have to try and meet up!!

Carrie, I am in on doing something for Clare's family!

It sounds like we are all ready for this year and the winter to be over! I hope that everyone under the weather, recovers quickly and that everyone stays warm!

Monica, glad you realize that we're as far away from Las Vegas/Laughlin as Los Angeles. Looking at a map, we're farther west than L.A. too. Only time we go south is for drag racing and then we're at the race track all day.
The alcohol thing is an old waitress/nurse trick for shoes that are too tight. Have to wear them when it's wet to stretch out the leather..or use the shoe forms that have the adjustable spots to stretch leather.
Yeah, I'll admit to being a waitress in years past, that's what fed the kids and kept the utilities on and so much else. Couldn't do it now if I wanted, with no strength in my arms/hands and 5# lifting limit..which is a joke, most everything weighs more than 5#.
Grandson and I went shopping, got everything he needs except Levi's at Sams and Walmart next door. I can send him Levi's. Want to be sure he has food to eat until he has some money coming in from the job he's hoping to get. Slim pickings in very small towns when it comes to jobs.
Carol Sue, you, Dan, Teresa and John have had way too much troubles due to weather for one winter ALREADY! and it's only barely winter. Yikes. Makes me cold just thinking about all of you out in that yuck.
I hardly knew Clare, but more than willing to join in on whatever is decided for her family. I'll bet all the siblings are wrapping around the kiddos with warmth, but it's still a huge void.
Services on Tuesday for a sweet gal who just lost her 13 yr fight with breast cancer. She had a bone marrow transplant and it did give her more time to get her kids raised. Only 49, way too young. I'm going to try to attend the services out of respect for her and the family.

Ruth, hope you are feeling better!

Jess, don't tell your crazy mom where I live! LMAO...my own is quite enough. And yes there are not many months of the year that there's not something going on in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg..I can't wait to start the journey of visiting the 8 mile loop of artisans in Gatlinburg.

The cold front roared through here like a lion and the temp dropped 30* in about an hours time. So far the weather is looking good for the move. Keep your fingers crossed..

Oh, and today I had a major brain seizure over my ugly ceiling in the studio....Since I've always wanted a Loft with the high ceilings I decided I'm taking down ALL of that dropped ceiling and exposing the pipes and everything! The ceiling will be about 10 feet and I can do something creative to all that is exposed...you know how lofts are..you see the duct work, pipes, conduit, etc...it will evolve...the thought of keeping that gridded ceiling overcame me today..LOL

steph-that sounds like a grand plan

so who was it that mentioned toothpaste and kids eating it cause guess who found some and ate it last night
Yep thats right caleb, he is sure a handful lately. all is well though he is ok and yeah i feel like a huge dork for calling poison control yet again to ask how much is toxic for him and half a tub would have done it. the scary part was half the tub was gone but most of it was on the floor. he is banned to his walker for a couple of days until i make sure he cant get anything and i mean anything. i am sooooo done with this and the snow, although it is melting nicely.

going back to sleep now, and hoping everyone will sleep in tommorrow. i might just snooze on the couch with the baby for a nap tommorrow sometime.

Stephanie- I still can't get a feed from your blog
I click on it the old fashioned way, though!

I'm glad your gonna get the drop ceiling down- great plan!!!!
Think of the country restaurants and some steakhouses youv'e been to- they have all the duct work and pipes exposed and just paint the entire ceiling black or some other color that enhances the entire look.
Having the height is the best part!
I painted out drywall ceiling blackish brown and it really made the ceiling disappear kinda- it's a great technique!

yep we had toothpaste eaters time and time again, but i am not too worried about it..if you research it, it makes it sound really scary, but from experience, not so scary, more like non existant...this too shall pass teresa.

well, made a 1 piece body pj for carmen last night...took the zipper putta the pkg, set it down somewhere just before the xmas clean up, now cannot find that zipper to save my life, thought it was in a treadle drawer, so ran around checked all the treadle drawrs..where the heck did it go?

Steph, That is a great idea, you could paint the ceiling Prussian blue and paint some little gold stars on it. Perhaps that is just too silly, but i love painting things on ceilings, though I still haven't finished the clouds in my sewing room. the ceiling is fifteen feet at the crest, I should have done it while the scaffolding was still up. Ah well.

Ronna, aren't you a good
Grandma! I just hope I get to be a grandma some day. I do enjoy making quilts for other people's grandbabies and buying them books, etc. I'm sure he appreciates you.

Jess I loved all your Christmas pictures, that faerie village is lovely. My kids had a tiny bit of stuff like that when they were tiny, Susannah's favorite was always a set of little tumbling gnomes. Maybe someday they will surface again, we just keep moving and losing things, but I never throw out any of the childhood treasures.

We had such a nice Christmas here, and I'm still enjoying the tree and all the stuff i wedged on the mantelpiece. I am an expert in creating clutter and I love decorating. When the kids were little we would decorate the kitchen soffit and cupboards every month. After Christmas, it would be ice fishing season so we'd make big paper fish and hang them up, Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day, etc. I still have lots of that kind of rubble tucked away. I think i need more trash bags.

I am still waiting to get my car back from the bo9dy shop, I will be so grateful to get rid of my tiny rental and have my big heavy van and I'll have to get the snow tires on pronto. I am trying to appreciate the season, and snow tires make all the difference. Last winter two of my new snow tires blew up on me, of coursse the car place replaced them, but it was kind of creepy, waiting for the next one to blow. Spending money on tires is so hard, when there are so many more interesting things to get...

For some unknown reason I am experiencing an inccredible amount of pain in my left leg. I can't figure it out.
Ah well. I have been sewing, the last two nights aI have been piecing a really goofy looking scrap quilt, I even put in a piece I found from a lone star quilt I made twenty years ago. I was almost finished hand quilting it when it disappeared. I hope to find it one day, I wanted to give it to my brother and his wife. I feel so good to be sewing again. Thye only wrench in the works is I have sp0oent aoll the money I was saving to have a few quilts machine quilted on the rental car. Ho hum.

Well I promised my kids banana 0pancakes for breakfast and since it is almost eleven I guess I should head for the kitchen...

Hope you are all well, and warm.

Teresa, Hang in there! As Jess said this too shall pass! When Isaiah was 2 he got into tooth paste and I knew he had eaten some because I could smell it on his breath! I called poison control and they guy I talked to said they would have to eat about half a tube and that it would be almost impossible to eat enough to get sick off it! Can you imagine eating at least 1/2c. of tooth paste! The whole pea size amount thing is more to cover the company's from getting sued!

Karin, I will pray that your leg feels better!

My front room still looks like a toy factory exploded! I started cleaning up and ended up napping most of the day! I will be so happy when this cold is gone because my house is a mess and I just don't have the energy to get it done right now!!! I did ask hubby to make me some wooden storage cubes to store the kids thing in and my fabric and wool so hopefully he will make them soon!!!

I buy candy canes, but I hide them otherwise my 3 would eat them non-stop until they are gone!

Jess, the one nice thing about being sick is that I can justify my house being a mess, but I am really ready for this cold to be done and get busy cleaning!!

It's warming up here and is supposed to be up towards 70 in a few days! All of you in the cold are welcome to come south!!!!

Gloria in Texas (Berries on the forum) does longarm quilting. She did the MJF quilts and gives a discount to farmgirls. She's not posted in a long time, probably way too busy. From what I've seen of her work, it's beautiful. I bought one of my Featherweights from her a couple years ago.

It is pretty coming down today all fluffy and I agree with you dd, sledding in the the very near future!!!!

Steph, what a fab idea to get rid of the dropped ceiling and what fun you are going to have. Yep, fingers crossed on the weather for you.

Monica, hope you feel better soon girl, still dealing with cold here too, soon it will be done for both of us and we will be back to normal, now what the heck is normal!!!!!

Karin, you take care of yourself and that leg. I love that you decorated for all the seasons and holidays. Ice fishing, now how smart you are. Hope you get your van back soon too.

Shery-lyn, can't wait to see pictures of the quilt and ehh gads girl you are fast.

Jess, don't you hate how things tend to disappear when we need them most. Darn them.

I am going to go have a great cup of tea.

Karin, keep a close eye on that leg pain...oh, and the banana pancakes sound so good! Yes, I groaned this past week with having to get new tires all the way around on the cruiser...I got almost 40000 miles on the original set from the factory so I guess that is pretty good.

And thanks for the ideas for the ceiling..that's a great one to paint it purssian blue and add stars..very cool..guess I'll have to add the moon too since I'm a moonchild.

Sheryl, I'll be taking a look at your blog...oh boy, you are on a roll again, this is great!

Autumn, I still haven't figured out why my feed is not pulling into the bloglists of others..I have found a feed that is working but "sigh" not doing what it should concerning the blogger gadget..I look so lonely on everyone's list with nothing showing. :0/ I did read on the blogger forum that others have the same issue so I'm going to contact one of them...But, yes...look at it the old fashioned way..LOL I kind of think that's more fun anyway.

Speaking of the blog. www.queenofdreamsz.blogspot y'all should go look at the preprinted panels I found in an old 70's magazine...what a blast from the past and another blogger has said she thought she has seen them again in the Ben Franklin craft store..so if anyone has one of those close by you need to go check it out.

Teresa, Caleb is in full forward motion...he's walking good now isn't he? Man, they can get into stuff in just a second.

And last but not least....the move is OFF for the 4th....Thomas was informed this morning that the Memphis job will start again on the 5th..so he'll have to work a week or so and get a feel on how much and when he can take off the time for the move...so called and moved the truck reservations to a future date and put all the help on standby. On the bright side...means he'll be home again at the apartment..YAY
