Thanks, Bonne, I was thinking of snagging that one too!..more than one way to expose everyone..LOL
Yes, wild at heart describes the women of this topic...we don't fear much...we say it like it is and live life like we mean it! It's REAL...yes, that a good way of putting it.
Monica, Kathleen is getting the chance to test you spun silk.. it's on the way to her now..her embroidery is so beautiful that she'll do it justice in a way that I can't..so when a tidbit of something comes back to me I will post it...I don't normally let go of something that divine..you know that too..LOL but it just seemed to be what needed to happen...I gotta check your blog for the pictures you posted here the other day of the spindle full of the silk....what a beautiful color that is..hope that's on your blog for her to see too!
Jess I think there's a spot on the forum to go type in your quote for consideration...or they'll snag it right from here...they're reading it too..

Jess, The carhart's and quilts conjures this very idyllic image in my head of sitting around with all of you at the end of the day chatting and working on something by a fire place! Oh well I am a dreamer!
Steph, I will have to send you more!!!!!! Yes, I actually managed to get the silk on my blog! I am still trying to get Christmas pics up! Hopefully tomorrow!

Loved your Alaskan adventure story Linda!
No need for Carharts here- it was 70 degrees again-felt like a sultry summer day!!!!Very wet and humid.
Yep- thats us Jess- the overalls..chasing chickens thing
That Bev & Sherylyn are just too cute!!! Good work Bonne!
Monica- I'm on my way to your blog- I was there yesterday looking at that beautiful yarn-silk???? I'll have to go back and read. I just bought some super soft 100% Pima Cotton yarn to crochet my washcloths with. It is the softest stuff I have ever felt! Thanks for opening up a whole new world of fibers Steph,Monica and all the rest of you!!!!
Blessings, Autumn Farmgirl #49 http://simplytoday-autumn.blogspot.com/

| Autumn, they make Carhartt shorts and you could wear the bib overalls without a shirt...well, maybe a tank top :) I had a tiny pair here, size 1 or 2, so cute. Might have put them on a teddy bear, not sure. I should have a dozen grandkids, guess that's why I've had to "adopt" ones to buy for. 18 yr old grandson isn't that easy to shop for anymore. |

| Teresa, before the days of 500 or 1000 thread count sheets, they were either Pima or Muslin. Pima has more and thinner threads to the weave and a much softer feel. Muslin, which isn't used that much anymore even by quilters is a coarser fabric and costs less. Does that answer your question or at least make it easier to understand? |

We had a high of 65 yesterday~almost as warm as the bayou. i got a mild sunburn on my cheeks. Flurries & 30's today. More like January. I hate to wear Carhartts~I got a pr of shorts and couldn't stand that stiff duck fabric~never softened up. They're great for hubs since he needs things to wear like iron, he's so hard on everything. New jeans are bad enough until they soften up~I don't like rough fabrics on me that don't "give".

Bonne, Good luck on finding stuff Made in USA! So much come from China in particular that it's nearly impossible to buy only stuff made here!
Jess, I think Mary Jane should run for office! I would vote for her! Just imagine, if farmgirls took over Washington!

Teresa, I don't know diddly about knitting or crocheting, but have not seen or heard of cottons for them to be classified as pima or muslin. I believe the better cotton fibers are referred to as Egyptian these days. Could be way off base, surely someone else will jump in here with info. Muslin is the name for the woven cloth, as in denim or organdy or gauze, etc. I have a textile 'dictionary' somewhere that would be more specific in explanation...just don't know where in the sewing room it might be hiding. |

Jess, I have two more book recommendations for you, my children keep telling me I'm getting senile (not true) but while these are sharp in my mind, I'll pass them along. First is a book called The Magic Pudding by Norman Lindsay, it's an aold Australian book, really wonderful.. My brother Bill gave it to my kids when they were younger. It is the adventures of a young Koala named Bunyip Bluegum. Albert, the Magic Pudding, is really swell. The other one is The Mousehole Cat by Antonia barber, and it is the retelling of a folktale from Cornwall, about an old sailor and his cat. Shortly before my daughter's eight birthday we had taken this book out of the library and read it together at bedtime. She clutched the book to her chest and said "Is this book still in print?" Of course I got her a copy for her birthday and have handed ones round through the years. The illustrations are especially sweet in that one.
Speaking of especially sweet, Miss Emilia Dolce"s most recent phot certainly lives up to her name...
All our phones here, except Susannah's ancient Hello Kitty phone, just died. So i guess we are going to have to buy some new ones. How tedious, and expensive. I'm just whining because of the recent dar fiasco....ho hum. life is like this.
The sun is out, the wind is still at the moment, so the day seems endurable....I suppose this means I should get dressed.

aha, Carhartts for women with a bit of spandex, very good idea. There's a Sierra Trading Post outlet in Reno, haven't been in there in a long time. Right by one of the Targets I service, convenient too. Since I've put on these extra ugly pounds, don't like pants without some stretch. So much more comfortable. If the manufacturing has to go out of country, better Mexico than China I think...just my opinion. I know Levi's have been made in Mexico for a long time now. Larry won't wear Levi's anymore for some reason connected with gun control and the NRA...I don't read his NRA magazines and he's not gone into an explanation other than to not buy him Levi's anymore. |
