Sheryl-lyn, I actually had typed "night John-Boy" the other night, but figured everyone would really know I'm certifiably nutso and deleted it. Used to do the "say goodnight Gracie" from Burns and Allen, but probably not many here old enough to remember that show. |

Karin, your chicken quilt is so sweet, the colors are luscious! And the quilt you made for your sun is terrific as well. I realize I haven't looked at your blog in a whioe, filled with all kinds of good things...
Snowing/sleeting here today. I am moving at a snail's pace. I have to go to the p.o. in a bit to send off my half of a Paperback Swap. Whoever it was that posted that link , thank you again... I went to bed early , for me, and slept in and I guess I needed to i feel better. I'm going to tackle some crocheting in a bit..
Steph, I am looking forward to seeing posts of all your goodies, i've decided the best way to collect at this point is just to collect images of things we love.
Carol Sue, what do you need for fabric? I might have something you could use...
Time to get dressed, more coffee...K.

Hi gals. I haven't been on much lately. We have been going through things to donate, etc. It is amazing what can be collected in 25 years of owning a home. I have a woman coming today to pick up fabric scraps (through freecycle ad), and a rescue mission coming tomorrow to pick up clothing. We just donated a lot last week, so when the rescue mission called, I said that I didn't have anything. Well, I was wrong, and they will reap the benefits of the donated clothing. I used to make girl's dresses, so I am hoping that that clothing goes to girls who are from low income families.

Oh I miss ya'll! So much goin on here! I have 2 very good friends seriously ill! So sad- one is in the last days of cancer and the other is in Houston with a life threatening bunch of symptoms that have resurfaced from last year-her capillaries are leaking into her tissues???Anyway Pray for her-she's a momma of 7 beautiful kids and is only about 41 or so. It's kinda wearing on my emotions- it just hurts a bit. That's why I'm here to chat with you gals!! Thanks so much!
I am a comitted dog person- but mostly males- we don't have the marking problems with either one of them. Maybe cause there's LOTS of room to run?
Sharon- we need that picture- you don't want Bonne to make one up do you???
Sheryl-lyn I LOVE the apron and I laughed last night cause I was gonna type "G'night Elizabeth" from the Waltons! My computer is moving very slow so I couldnt load the Reply page.
Oh yes- you need to know how to knit! It is such fun! I haven't made anything yet but I will! I am just practicing the process and then unraveling it all
Hey Karin! Great to see you! I have a chicken question- how do ya get them to quit pooping in the nest boxes??? The roost is just below the nest box so I could cover the boxes at night when I shut them in I guess. My hubby said their boxes(back in the day) were outside the henhouse under a little roof in the yard. Where are yours?
I have forgotten the rest of what I just read- sorry! Hi to everyone, though!
Blessings, Autumn Farmgirl #49 http://simplytoday-autumn.blogspot.com/

Karin from GA, you really should contact "Country Woman" magazine..I'll bet they'll do a feature on your girls and their henhouse.
=====
Ronna,...you ought to know by now that anything goes on this topic...be yourself (totally)..we can take it! LOL I had forgot about, night, Johnboy...Yep, I used to watch the Waltons and Little House on the Prairie..must have been that farmgirl in me as a little girl while being moved everywhere when Dad was in the Air Force.
And my mom couldn't stand to have animals around (and she grew up on a farm....but don't think she appreciated it, obviously)Not like she had to do the farm chores..believe they had horses and gosh I think everyone would have chickens. The best I could manage through childhood was to sneak in a cat or kitten every chance I saw and then that would only last a few days and out it would go. When I got my first farm as an adult I had two huge barns and about a dozen barn cats and two in the house..LOL SO there!! I filled my oats on the animal kingdom being with me once and for all!
-----
Karin, Yes...I love PAPER! So that means all the vintage sewing patterns, transfers, specialty booklets, etc....became my passion a long time ago. See girls I have Passion, not an addiction..LOL
-----
Sheryl, repeat after me: Passion, Passion...addiction such a dirty word. of course, you need to learn to knit..silly woman.

Passion Passion Passion. Oh yes, that sounds so much better than addiction. I'll remember that as I try to get my "passions" sorted and easily accessed. Just having something doesn't help a bunch when I can't find or get to it. Once again, I have myself boxed into a corner and so much to do and not much time left. And feel like crap too. Just the usual creeping crud. |

Ronna, hope your crud leaves very soon...and yes, ditto, on having everything on earth and not being able to locate it...that's how my apartment is now..hope that insanity clears up once some of the stuff moves to the cabin. It all can't go since I'm not going to live there fulltime for 2 more years.
The passion in our lives..gotta love it or go insane! Speaking of nice sounding words....one day Thomas said something so stupid..one of those times you think your thoughts are flowing and then they are NOT...so I call him "Precious" at times..LOL

Autumn, the pictures are stuck on the hard drive on another computer. Dh poured milk on the computer and it had to be repaired. He loaded all the data on a portable hard drive, but now he can't find the cables, so that he can put the stuff back on the computer. The pictures are neatly tucked away on the hard drive.

autumn, you have to look around on line, they will roost on the highest perch possible, try to not have your perch/roost be above your boxes, when the roost they poop the most...have you read the storey guide to raising chickens? that will help you tons..can you run your roosts on a different wall then your nest boxes?

Carol Sue, Sheryl-lyn and Monica~thank you for the tips. I will have to try the garlic lemonade and Vicks Vaporub.
Jess~It sounds like you had fun on the bike ride. We love to bike together but last year we didn't get too much since my husband broke his foot and had surgery.

Jess~it is great the way you raise your kids. They need boundaries and need to know who is in charge. I'm sure that your children's teachers love them.
Sheryl-lyn~I used to teach K and 1st grade and I saw so much of the same thing. It was like parents really did not want to show their kids boundaries. Forever letting them do whatever no matter how inappropriate. The total silliness and weirdness is what drove me to quit, as well as wanting to be home with my kids.

Stephanie~congratulations on the new computer. Can't wait to see what you will be passing on. I don't have a stash yet but I have stuff. I need to go through it all and see what can go. It's on my list.
Sheryl-lyn~I like knitting and am just now trying to learn new things. I have the basics down but I know there is so much more you could do.
Jess~Thank you. I'm glad you like the hats. I can't wait until you get them. The picture of me I took myself. I don't like to see pictures of myself.

Oh, those Owl hats are just adorable. I do admire the creativity you ladies have. Ruth..the Disney/Pixar Monopoly is kinda phasing out, think ToysRus, independent toys stores and Disney store might be only place to get them anymore. Or Hasbrotoyshop.com How close are you to Pawtucket, where Hasbro is based? I don't know if the store there is open to the public or just employees. Games are based in MA. I know they were deleted at Walmart and Target this past spring/summer and only occasionally saw one. I don't have one, have bought some of the other new/unusual ones-even the licensed and some "bootleg" ones like Dogopoly. Tomorrow is my first day back to work and I'd just as soon stay home. Won't though. |

Ruth: What a pretty lady!! Gosh, we are the best darn farmchicks out there! You are a doll and a half. Hope you are feeling better. I LOVE those owl hats. Would it look like I was deranged if I wore one? :)
We had a good day at school today. My kids were sooooo ready to be back to school! I always say TGIM on Monday and they usually groan and say, "No way!! I hate Mondays!!" but today they were all saying, "Yeah, it is this time." I was bowled over!
Tonight I am going over my neighbors for our weekly sewing together night. I am bringing a wool quilt that is a BOM from a shop upstate. I am a little behind on that one so will work on it there. Hope you are all well.
Back to work tomorrow, Ronna?
