Ladies, I forgot to say thank you so much for all the sweet comments about the owl hats and me. You are too kind. Teresa~Was it you that wanted some owl hats? I am having so much fun making them. I wouldn't mind making some for you if you'd like. Just let me know. Sorry if it's not you. Ruth

Lottery tickets. I keep on dreaming that someday it will be me. I have big dreams and I need big money to back them up. If I ever won I would definitely want to buy a big farm with a big barn. One of the first things I would do is make that barn a huge work studio for me. Then I could have all of you come and we could work on quilts. I have never done one but I will learn. Wouldn't that be fun. For Christmas, my husband bought me a Powerball ticket and our state had a lottery to win 1 million dollars. Only 120,000 tickets were sold. Do you think I could have won that?! Anyway, I will keep on trying.
Jess~I wish I could buy up some property like that. Maybe we need to get one of those kick in the but graphics for your hubby and he'll run down there and buy it up. LOL

Ruthie, you may as well just keep on crocheting those Owl hats, as I think everyone here loves them. ;) Slap a price on them and we'll keep you in business.

ok, so where have i been? Crappy crummy day...let me tell you!
So, we had an ice storm last night. John was 1/2 way to school with the kids when he thought it was odd that no school busses had been seen...usually there are dozens...and yes, my kids every morning count them. So he made some calls and found out we were an a 2 hr delay.
Meanwhile I woke up with a raging sore throat, my ears felt bad, my eyeballs hurt, and muscle fatigue.....and best part...no voice.
John had stayed up until 3:30am doing docs for a client he was meeting at 11am an hour and a half away. So he contacted her and moved his appt back to 2:30pm, which was good for her since she was iced in as well.
And where are our jumper cables to jump my van...no where, where are his...no where...do we even own a pr anymore..who knows...we sound organized don't we? So he takes my kids to school, who go to school at noon and borrow the administrators pr of jumpers, comes home, jumps van and leaves for his appt with his client. So I let the car run until I needed to leave at 1:50pm, car runs great, drive across town, pick up my daughter who gets out at 2:10. By now I have 102* fever, achy everywhere, and just wanna crawl under my daown comforter and go to sleep. But, I need to go pick up some meds for my strep...so go all the way to the other side of town to get meds, not enough time to do much, so might as well drive to the other kids school to pick them up, i will be 15 mins early, but I can put the seat back adn close my eyes adnd nurse Emilia while I wait. lexi can do her homework, Gia can maybe take a nap, sounds great, right? So we get to school, all goes according to plan, I turn off the van, decide I should not do that since it was dead, I should let it run as long as possible, so start it back up. gas is cheap right now, so I should not get to worked up, you know my van get 12mpg on a good day. So I sit there, wave pleasantly at other that pass as I nurse the babe, close my eyes..all is well in the world. Ok so it is time to go in and get the kids...so we go in..and yes i turned my vehicle off when i left it because an unattended running car in a parking lot full of children is probably not a good idea. I go into the school, return the administrators cables, thank her, get on with getting the kids from 2 diffferent classrooms and explain why i have no voice to everyone i pass. So, I get back out to the car with all the kids in tow, get everyone buckled in their correct seats, no, I did not bring snacks today, I do not feel good. No, Dad is not home, he will be home for dinner though. Anthony don't pull Vincent's hair. No, I am sure he did not sit on your glove on purpose. Carmen, please help the twins adjust their seats to accommodate their coats, Lexi make sure your homework has not fallen on the floor, everyone's boots are wet and muddy. I am thinking, when did life become this complicated? So I get in the front seat, we can hear the baby's poop erupting from within her, hmm...did I bring the diapers? Of course not, the diaper bag was in John's car that we drove last instead of mine, ine was dead. Ok no prob, 8 mins from home, we will change it there. Breast milk poo doesnt really smell anyway, right? haha I sit down, buckle myself, ...turn the key..nothing..car wont start. So, I send Lexi back to get the jumpers, she comes out with em..I find my good friend, ask her to jump me when the car next to me leaves. Jeez the woman next to me took 20 mins to load 3 kids and their coats..the kids are 4th, 5th, and 6th grade...my goodness. So, we jump my van...nothing. Try again, nothing. My baby is in the van screaming, nothing can help her but me. I still have a fever, 34* out and sleeting. Adjust the cables, both of us on the phone with our husbands(who are both out of town)making sure we are indeed doing this correctly. Yes, I do know how to jump a car. By now we have a crowd of about 20 giving us advice on what could be the problem. I hate to be the center of attention, so I just wanted it to all go away. So after an hour we gave up, I had my husbands secretary come get 1/2 my kids and the other 1/2 of us rode home in my friends car. So, I finally got home at 5:15 and can take my meds that I picked up at 2:30. So I changed Emilia, her explosion had gone up her back, down her legs, to her socks, and happened at about 3:30pm. Poor baby. Took the dogs out, Lexi has girl scouts now, but do i have a car...no...and john is not quite home yet.
And the client he met with today lied about all her stuff and has no single document to verify anything, so all the work he did all last night and today out of town was a huge waste. And the only reason he had to go so fast is that this chic made an offer closinfg in 3 wks, but never consulted anyone about it and called him last night wondering if he could help her...he is sooooooooooo nice of course he said yes.
I think we are ordering pizza for dinner.

Jess has been quiet since this morning, hope she's feeling better..and Emilia too. I slept most of the day, nearly 3:30 now and just got up. Feel like going right back, too. Nothing drastic, just aches and pressure in my head, so likely will end up my usual sinus gunk. I think the dogs would sleep 24/7 if someone was bedridden..well, just breaks for eat and potty. Someone knocked on the door twice, I heard it, they heard it and didn't even get off the bed. I'm going to pick up here a bit while I'm up, so it won't be such a mad job of vacuuming and dusting tomorrow. Can't blame anyone but myself for making messes. I clean out something and make a mess doing it...so it's a vicious circle. Incorrigible, that's all. |

We must have been typing at the same time Jess. Hard enough to have a day go so crappy for you, but being sick magnified it 100 times. I feel like such a slacker and wish I could have helped you out. A screaming baby slathered with poop on top of it all. When you feel human again, make some pizzas, bake until done but not browned and freeze them for days like this. No harder to pop them in the oven for 15 min than to order pizza, wait longer than that and pay a small fortune. Know I sent you the crust/dough recipe, it's so easy and will sit in the fridge for a few days if you don't get to rolling/tossing right away. John's day didn't go so well either, surely didn't make him a happy guy. Can we all just start Monday over again and hope it's a better week? Wow, Ruth, sell those cute hats and you can buy some more yarn or fabric, good deal for everyone. I don't wear hats and no little ones or would be in line too. Heard that snow in Spokane has surpassed 6 ft since last month. Yikes. Hard to even imagine that much and then all the problems it's caused. Walmart and such can take care of their collapsed roofs, it's Carol Sue and Teresa and those who have had so much misery. |

| Jess...well, if all did it would be okay, but just one and he'd get laughed out in the snow. He has a thing for green shoes, skateboarders type. I came across a pair of red and green stretchy shoelaces and he thought there were quite cool. One never knows what a teenager might like. Can't buy him shirts anymore, even the right brand might be wrong. Bet your kids would wear them, will have to do that as I come across the "rejects". |

Well ladies, I would be happy to make owl hats for anyone who wants them. I am thinking that I will be selling them. I know the person on Etsy had them for over $30 but I think that is too high. I will make the larger ones for $20 plus shipping and the infant ones for $16. Let me know what you think. If this sounds like too much let me know. I am not good at pricing things. I do not use cheap yarn. I have used alpaca, cotton and wool blends. I appreciate your input.
Oh Jess~So sorry to hear about your day. It sounds terrible. I wish I could go on over and help you. I could bring you some homemade chicken soup. Yay for the windows. Do you have chickens? I want to get some this spring. One of the girls from a different thread works at a hatchery and I called today for a catalog.
Ronna~I hope you are feeling better soon. Wish I could bring you some nice homemade chicken soup.
Teresa~I emailed you back. Blessings, Ruth

4 1/2 cups flour (bread flour or all purpose). 1 1/2 tsp salt. 2 pkg (or 4 1//2 tsp) yeast. 2 tblsp oil, preferably olive. 1 3/4 cups very warm water. I use a large capacity food processor, can use stand mixer or by hand. Mix dry ingred, add oil and water and mix until it forms a ball (about a minute in the food processor). Let sit a couple minutes and mix again briefly. Don't want lots of gluten development like for bread or it will be hard to roll out/toss thin enough. Let sit 1/2 hour or so before rolling out or pop in fridge in large covered container over night or even a couple days. Longer it sits in fridge, more flavor develops, even to a slight sourdough tang. If the container isn't about 3 times bigger than the dough ball, it will mushroom out the top. If you are leaving it a day or two, can punch down as it rises. Let sit to warm up 1/2 hour or so when you're ready to make pizzas. If you have pizza stones, they take a good 1/2 hour to warm up. This amount will make 3 large pizzas, depending on how thick or thin you like the crust. Sauce can be any marinara, home made or bought-let it simmer awhile to thicken up and not be watery on the crust. If you don't have pizza pans, use a cookie sheet or jelly roll pan. Can use semolina flour or reg to roll out and dust to not stick to pan or pizza stone if you have one. Two ways to go here..can dock with a fork and prebake the crusts before topping or not. I still dock with a fork to keep big dough balloons from rising. Use whatever toppings you want, but if you're using a lot, better to prebake so the crust gets baked through before edges are brown. I bake at 450 for 10-15 min, depending on size and thickness of crust before adding mozzarella and baking another 5-10 min for it to bubble and melt. All this is written by memory, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. If you're going to freeze, don't bake completely so it can finish and brown when reheating. I put them in freezer ziploc or foodsaver bags and they're ready to go. Sent home about two dozen small ones with the grandson and he was happy about that. Seems the stove they were waiting to have hooked up does not work, so the microwave will get a good workout. |

Ruthie, that's a darn fair price. Quality yarns and not to mention your TIME, which you normally don't get paid diddley squat for when it comes to crafts. "Home" mom's can use the extra $$, that's for sure!! I believe Bev wanted Owl hats too.
