Bonne made me want to make clothes last year, but I never got to it. I might go for it this summer if I am home most of the time. I used to make my clothes as a teenager too. Made all of my daughter's clothes when she was a little girl.

Thanks for the good wishes for my son, Rob. He has not always loved school, but got his Associates this year and will be attending the SUNY Stony Brook university for Environmental Biology. He might even be looking forward to it. He is 24 and has been working full time for a while and sees that he will not get too far around here without that degree. Long Island does not have much for people without a college degree. It costs a fortune to live here!!

We are getting a pretty big snowstorm this weekend. Starting tomorrow afternoon and into the night. Kind of looking forward to it.

Had fun reading all the posts. What a cool group of women!!

Exactly! Go to your profile and put in an IMG code (like from photobucket)right in front of your blog URL (if you have one listed) Click on the preview button to see what it looks like. If it looks good, you are in business. You have to make the picture small though. Now if I have to point you to online graphics sites......Ok.....here's some:
http://www.iconcatalog.com/ small icons suitable for siggies
http://www.santalady.com/garden.html flowers
http://www.cats.alpha.pl/catdesigns/freecatgraphics.htm Cats
http://wtv-zone.com/AnniesTreasures/main.html assorted
http://photobucket.com/ free hosting for your pics. Upload a pic, and copy the "IMG" code that is listed for it.

Hey Bonne....thanks for the info...yea...I can remember as a teenager I was always a size 12 and then all of a sudden sizes changed....

Well, I am tucked into the tiny guest house waiting for a snowstorm to hit. Here at the farm, we get worse weather than in town at the condo...kind of cool here....quiet and beautiful.

Well, gonna watch a movie with Hubbs and then to bed. Talk later......

Bonne, is that a size 10-12 by today's standards or by the retro standards? You look to be the retro standard size...you brat!

Carol Sue, Huge Major Happy Dance for water running out where it supposed to!!!

-----
I've been dropping by Books a Million every other day waiting for these new magazines to hit the stands...I've preordered my issue of Apron-ology...not taking the chance on them doing something stupid like NOT getting it!

I know that Nay and Tina will have an interest in these....I know Jess loves Stampington publications too....I know some of you will love them if you've never seen them.

Got the premiere issue of the new Stampington pub: Stuffed: A Gathering of softies
http://www.stampington.com/html/awc_11302008_stuffed.html

and then Stampington in Love...its' an altered book collaboration.
http://www.stampington.com/html/somerset_in_love_w09.html

and last but certainly not least...the new issue of Belle Armoire (The Artistry of Clothing & Accessories) I've got every issue of this one since it premiered as well as Cloth Paper Scissors.
http://www.stampington.com/html/Belle_armoire.html

Ok, that' my excitement for the day other than my new "collection" blog is very close to opening...may be tomorrow so please drop by my Queen of Dreamsz blog this weekend!

My new MJF mag has not arrived here either. Seems to always been a week or two behind everyone else. Maybe someone borrows it before it gets here.
Blame the designers and rich woman for making a former size 8 now a size 2. Does anyone remember the 5,7 & 9 dress shops, for those "tiny" women?
Steph remembers the big tote of 30's to 50's patterns I found at Salvation Army a couple years back. Will have to go through them and see what might be useful for those of you in search of dresses to sew. I'm thinking most were quite designer stylish for their day; do believe the owner was a seamstress for a living. Do I recall a size 12 was a 30 or 32 bust? Get real.
Glad that Carol Sue has water now and everyone/everything can get cleaned and watered that needs it.
Teresa, are you close to getting your Featherweight paid off so it can come to your house to live? Not many people or stores that will do any sort of lay away these days. Think Kmart is the only one in this area.
Worked today (for a change) and had lunch with my step mom and her sewing circles ladies. Don't think any of them sew anymore, but they do get together for lunch when they can and a shopping day in Reno too.

Good Night Jess...sweet dreams and I hope you are feeling better.

---

Ronna, out of all those patterns you mailed to me year before last (yes, can you believe it's been that long ago!!) there were only two of them that I didn't already have...I am a total vintage pattern junkie!! I bet you do have some patterns that Bonne would like!

And YES, what a blast from the past...the 5-7-9 shops...because I was a size 5 until til I was 38 years old. I quit my horrible habit of smoking a dozen or more years ago and have gained weight upto a size 8 to 12 depending on what it's made from, the cut, how cheap or expensive..you know, nothing has a standard fit anymore..so I just try on til it fits and forget the numbers..to upsetting otherwise. Don't think I'll see size 5 again but would like to slide into a size 10 blue jean without any pain..LOL I'm only 5' 1" tall so it's a real bit%h with any extra weight on me. And I'm my worst critic after being so tiny most of my life!

I'm 5'7" and hate BUYING clothes anymore~always too short in length~that's the bonus about sewing your own clothes; I can always add to sleeves and pants hems. That's half the reason I sew my own clothing.
I LOVE the sourdough bread article in the MJF mag!! Now we can make our own "mother"!! Can't wait to try it.
I HATE the plethora of ads though~wasn't that way a couple years ago. :(

The embroidery with the silk thread is just incredible. I have done a tiny bit of embroidery, but not with homespun silk, it is such an incredible fiber.

I just coated my shoulders with pain goo and my daughter informed me that I smell like a toilet mint. What a sweetheart. I can't sleep so I'll have to see what kind of trouble I can get up to in the sewing room I guess. Or maybe I'll just go visit all those sites Steph just posted, much better idea!

I haven't gotten my magazine yet either, it always takes longer when you live out in the back of beyond.

Carol Sue, I'm so glad your water troubles have stopped. You need a nice long rest, and maybe a big drink or two...

Good night, K.
