Jess- Anytime you want to come south, you just let me know. I'll make up guest room for you and the kiddos! It'll be tight, but you'll be warm!
Carol Sue- I wish I could wave a wand and make you feel better. Trying to get to sleep is what gets me. I lay down and I hurt- wierd. Usually a couple of Excedrin and an Alka Seltzer calm it down enough to allow me to go to sleep. If I exercise during the day I feel better at night. Looks like no more excuses for sitting on my backside!
Ruth- Ouch! Go get yourself some butterfly bandages for your finger. They work wonders.
It is still cold here today, but not as bad as yesterday. A high of 40 is expected. I've been watching Mama Mia, singing along and making a quilt top this morning. Looks like it's time to get my backside in gear and do some housework.
Have a great day,y'all.

Another day in the frozen north, I think it is about forty degrees upstairs here. No pipe problems yet, so I guess I should be happy about that. This winter feels relentless to me. Zan and I are going to town later, if the car starts, to get plastic, and a couple curtain rods to put up quilts overs doors.I have a big back porch and it is glassed in, but the dooe to the living room from the porch is like a little frost supply. I have all these goofy old quilts that are too wonky to use on beds, but with a strip on the back they are great for curtains.

I can hardly wait to see your quilt topp, Karin, you have such a wonderful sense of color. I hope you managed to avoid any projectile eggs today. I'm still laughing at that vision...

Ruth, butterfly bandages are great. It is so annoying to have a bad cut on your hands especially when you do so much handwork.

When I order fabric, which I don't anymore, Hancock's of Paducah is very fast, also Big Horn Quilt Shop is very fast. My favorite on line shop is Reproduction Fabrics.com, they have an amazing assortment of fabrics, and a fascinating site with all sorts of pictures of old quilts and sewing notions. The woman who owns the business has an amazing line of fabric of designs she has taken from an old book of fabric samples, called the Dargate book. When I;m not able to sleep that is one of my favorite sites to wander through. They ship things quickly too..

Time to fold some laundry, stay warm ladies...

fun stuff...my frozen pipes have thawed and water is spewing everywhere
i think i found the shut off...now trying to figure out what to do next
my sump pump was stuck and had to be reset so it was not working
when i reset it, the hose that takes the water from the pump to the outside flew out of the wall, so i got hit in the face with muddy 34* water, so had my son help me put it back together..takes 2 people, then i fell down the basement steps because my boots are all muddy and wet, my hands are chapped cracked and bleedin, my elbow is bleedin, my knee is bleedin, i just walked in the door to this from yet another hockey practice....I am ready to throw in the towel and move to Karin n GA's house. This old house is gonna kill me before I can make it better. Everything in my basement is soakin' wet...i am so mad right now i could spit, so instead of throwin' a fit in front of my kids I am just typing really hard and fast. Why does this stuff never happen when my husband is home?

My favorite Levis met an untimely demise this summer and I re-purposed them into an apron. Made this awhile back but finally got around to taking a photo. Most of the yoyo's are made from old shirts, and the ruffle was cut off a little girl's dress I found at the thrift.

Jess~so sorry to hear about your terrible day!!

Cute apron!! Great job with recycling those jeans.

Karin(GA) and Karin (ME)~ I wish I had thought of that. I used a tegaderm bandage and silk tape over to keep pressure. It is a pain and gets in the way.

Karin of Maine, oh that sounds so cool, and quilts over the windows is a saving grace for trying to stay warm.

Goodness girls, I promise I did not send old man winter to any of you, what a year we all have been having.

Jess girl, you do not need this, pitch the tree if it helps!!!!!! Thank goodness your son could help you put that d*** pipe back together. Yep, hubby also said if we had the bucks girl he would fly back and help you. Now I know that is a miracle because to say he detests flying doesn't even cover it.!!!!! and he hates plumbing just as bad!!!!!

Oh, who cut their finger, Ruth or Monica, either way, yes, butterfly bandages are a saving grace to keep the skin together and from leaking on anything you are dong.

Ok, off to check on the grands and that dd of mine......

Oh Jess, I feel for you sweetie, what a horror show and falling down and injuring yourself really makes it intolerable. I hope you and some of those kiddos manage to get things taken care of.
Winter is so relentless this year. I am ready to abandon ship. I actually have a book called HOW To Abandon Ship, it belonged to my grandfather. I used to laugh at it, because I thought by the time you finished reading it in a crisis situation it might be too late...

Linda, I really enjoyed looking at the site you posted. Lots of beautiful quilts to look at.

Zan and I got our big roll of plastic and we're about to start the window project. I hope it helps...

Ok, keep warm everyone, Karin

ARGGHHH!!! I HATE PLUMBING ISSUES!!!!!! ((((JESSICA))))
And WHY when Daddy is gone?!?!?!?

Adorable apron Jennifer!!! Neat idea to keep the good memories of a fav pr of jeans. ;)

Ruthie, I agree on the super glue for cuts~they're using that instead of
stitches very often these days.
