I think my snow shoveling career may be over. I had forgotten how much i would be paying for that little adventure. Ah well, the sun will be up soon and I can probably walk upright by then. The getting old part doesn't really signify, I still feel about twelve, it's the getting wretched part I should have been paying attention to.

Didn't sew any minis tonight, I've been struggling with a crossword puzzle and hoping to fall asleep.

I made sort of a hash for supper, didn;t have any corned beef so I just fried a few cold potatos, a green pepper, a few shallots and some wonderful organic ham. I believe we'll be eating the leftovers for breakfast, maybe throw an egg on top.

I love the assisted Living center, Bonne. You are full of good ideas! Years ago my dear friend David, who is an artist , aand I decided that whatever happens we'll make sure we end up in the same old folks home.
We are planning to paint scenery on the rollup shades. We'll be too old and wretched to go anywhere, but we'll fake it.

My friend David lives in his grandfather's house. It;s a funny little sort of cottage with about seven different size outbuildings. Years ago, when his grandfather was alive, David and I would take some food over and Grandpa was about the grouchiest old hermit I'd ever dealt with. Once he got rid of his cow, his health began to fail. I was at the house one day when David was cleaning it up, preparing to move in, and he discovered all these old plates of food upstairs in one of the extra bedrooms. They were all still in covered dishes or swaddled with foil. It was about fifteen years worth of holiday dinners his family had brought him. His grandmother had divorced him years before , and always referred to him as 'old s#%theels". Families are such an adventure...ooh, I better drag myself off to bed before i become completely incoherent...

Hope all is well with all of you, Karin

Bonne~Too funny~Farmgirl Assisted Living~Sewing machines and fabric required. LOL

Jess~Sell the house-pack up the kids and ride cross country to visit all your farmgirl friends. It would be a wonderful learning experience for the kids.

Sharon~So sorry to hear about your machine.

Ronna~Wow! Get busy sewing. You find such great deals at your thrift. I don't get that lucky here.

(((Dutchy)))-I'm glad your neighbor was there. Those days can be tough.

I have a Brother embroidery machine that hubby bought for me last year. I haven't used any of the embroidery but I love all the great features it has. I have alot to learn on that machine yet. Don't know when I'll find the time.

no time like the present ruth, get on it...took me 6 months to even get my serger outta the box.

yikes on your machine sharon.

ronna.......i have larry's email address, don't make me use it!

Bonne, Im with u, for 12,000 I could really do something better than a sewing machine!

meat sauce...I have the recipe from Italy that John's fam has been using for generations..no canned sauce in this house...and yes the #10 can is the way to go....then put it in rubbermaids and freeze it.......same with lasagna.......yum.....funny you all are talking about that, john brought home all the stuff for me last night to make it all day today, toss in some wine and sausage, let it simmer 8 hours or so.

steph...when we moved in here, the twins were 5 weeks old, I still dont have stuff where I want it and have boxes i havent unpacked, take ur move slow and get it perfect...I love that you will be able to do that!

carol sue...yay..you got some space and some cutting!

I managed to get all my minis cut, sewed up 4 then could not take it anymore and stormed up to bed.

I really need sun and temps above 20*.

I am so crabby, I will talk to you all later.

Okay ladies, it's only 8 a.m. at my house and I already have 3 pages to catch up on from today and the 3 I was trying to catch upon from yesterday!!!

Bonne, I love the farmgirl assisted living idea!

Dutchy, I am glad you had someone to talk to! I will be praying for you!!(((HUGS)))!

Okay, now I want brownies!! My cutting table is cleaned off, but now I need to dig out my table that my machine is on!

I would love to get an embroidery machine, but the good ones are pretty expensive! I would like the babylock elegante, but they are $8000.00 new! I did see a new one on ebay for $4000.00, but that is still $3900.00 more than I can afford!

I will try to catch up more later! I have to go find my kitchen sink and get some sewing done today!!

I hope you all have a wonderful morning!!!

Brownies:(from CacaoWeb.net)
Brownies made with cocoa
Yield: 24 servings

Ingredients
¾ cup (170 g) butter
1 ¼ cup (275 g) sugar
2 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs
¾ cups (85 g) all-purpose flour
½ cup (50 g) cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
a pinch of salt (optional)
3 oz (100 g) chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Method

1. Preheat oven to 350 deg F (Gas mark 4 or 180 deg C).
2. Line a 13 x 9 in (33 x 23 cm) cake tin with grease proof or other non-stick paper and grease the tin.
3. Melt the butter.
4. Beat eggs with sugar, and add vanilla, flour, cocoa, baking powder, salt (optional) and melted butter.
5. Add chopped nuts.
6. Bake at 350 degrees until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, approximately 20-30 minutes.
7. Cool the cake. Dust with powdered sugar or glace with your favorite chocolate frosting.

Variations

1. Instead of all-purpose flour + baking powder you may use self-raising flour.
2. Instead of eggs you may use 3/4 cup med firm drained tofu (suggested by Jennifer, March 2008)
3. Instead of using nuts use a mars bar. Freeze the bar, smash it and the sprinkle it on top before baking (suggested by Thea, August 2008)

For the meat sauce you gotta have cheese sausage from Carmine Lonardo's Meat Mkt too.

Ok, now who was whining about height? I'm not even tall~5'7" is average~where my ancestors in scandinavia had to wade through the snow in order to survive~if you were shorter, you died. lol Thank god they invented skis finally.

This recipe IS yummy! I'm made many a batch, but don't you dare substitute tofu for eggs!! Criminy! That's a plan
hatched by emaciated food-haters. Butter! Cocoa! Sugar! Eggs! You know, the stuff grandma used.

Oh, did I mention it's going to be 70 for the next 2 days? "Zeb" and I are going to be playing outside
where he can get some more exercise with the local wild yeast.
