I walked to the library today to look at their books for sale. Took Red with me and we ended up leaving with an armload each.
Such a weakness for cheap books we have. lol I always look for good crafting books~sorry gals, no sewing books there this time, except lots of quilting ones. One book, "Amazing Kitchen Cures" is kinda fun. Did you know you can remove makeup with Reddiwhip? LOL. And to prevent flatulence, add a can of Coca-Cola to a pot of pinto beans when cooking to neutralize the gas. What a treasure trove! ROFL

Good afternoon girls,

Yes, reading and writing as I go along..

Lanna I am very impressed that you remembered anything after reading all the pages...I on the other hand have to comment as I go along reading or there would never be any commments.....my brain would be fried!!!!!

Hmmm fat quarters, oh how we love our little fat quarters, stare at them, feel them, play with them....ahhhhhhh

Karin, wow girl you take care of yourself, sounds like your body is revolting at you for the interesting trip you took. Take your meds, and your peas on shoulders and take it easy today!!!!!!!

Ok, I wanna see some pictures of you girls in your berets, I bet it is way cool.

Hi Linda, you were close girlfriend....grin

My dh is going through a phase. Now, he has a lot of junk that has taken up our patio, but do I complain to him verbally (I dare not), but I would like to get the patio back. He also has a hardware store in the garage. Never really threw out anything, but he is donating things now.
Dh does want to add on to the house and give me a sewing room again, but that will be the day. There are a lot of hoops to jump through to get any additions built on to the home around here. Everyone wants their hand in the $$$ bucket.

Hey Carrie, you'll have to look through what I've uploaded....I'm sure there are lots of stuff that could be used as appliques with the hand embroidery designs I've got..I'll have another batch edited in a few days before we head for the hills next week.

I went to the Galleria in Memphis today to pick up my new eyeglasses *sigh* couldn't get away with using the Zinnia.com for my progressives...drag, drag... Anyhow, took a walk through Dillards and low and behold I ran slap into the Spanx department...yes, I mean a whole freakin department of those torture garments..they even have knee highs and panty hose!

I had my digital camera with me because they have a beautiful carousel out in the mall and I wanted to take pics of it....and did..then came across a store that I wanted a pic of their sign and right when I was clicking to take the pic I hear a voice say, "Pictures are prohibited inside the mall"...you know me and my humor, I turned towards the voice and was laughing..this chic was serious!

I told her I had not seen any signs saying "no pictures"...and that she may want to follow me back to the carousel area where I had just left (taking pictures) so she could bust all the parents over there taking pics of their kids riding the carousel.
She told me I needed to leave the mall because I had taken pictures... I laughed again and walked away from her for fear she'd pull out a taser and zap me. She was on her hot line talking to someone as I walked away....so there ya go, I guess the mall cop was looking for me while sitting in the eyeglass shop...LOL

I thought she was way off base with how hateful she was towards me...way too serious about that job is all I can say. And I can also see that one day she's gonna say that to someone without a sense of humor and get everyone involved to make huge scene of it....people seem to love to make a scene in public these days....not I...just want to do what I got to do and be left alone...not bothering anyone in anyway..too many crazy people wandering around these days. My worst fear was that she may have a license to carry a weapon!!! yikes!!

While in the eyeglass shop I asked the ladies did they know there was a "no picture" policy inside the mall? They knew nothing of it and said they always had taken pics in the mall of different stuff including the carousel.

So that was my day...pick up glasses and avoid the Mall Cops..LOL

I've had security in Walmart (ha, the jerks who walk around with clothing over their forearm...real men don't do that) approach me when I'm taking pics of my displays, features, etc. I seldom get asked now, but it happened often when I worked for Coppertone suncare. What Walmart secrets do you suppose they thought I was stealing?? Some of these 'rent a cops' take their job way too seriously.
If I wear Spanx, will it shove my belly/table muscle/midriff bulge up into my boobs so I look like I have a real figure again, not just flab and blubber? Enquiring minds want to know. Has anyone noticed that Martha Stewart wears only loose tops now and usually has something in front of her mid section in the photos? Me thinks the years have caught up with her too. My daughter renewed subs to that mag and Oprah and I wish she hadn't. Martha wrote how she works out with her personal trainer every day and looks to me like she's just not so slim and trim anymore.
I notice the NutriSystem ads say that Marie has lost 45# now, wasn't it 40# before? Maybe if she takes off the Spanx she'll find it. Oh well, I'll never fit in size 3's again, but would like to get back to a 12. Biggest problem is I like, no--LOVE my own cooking. Such is life.

Ronna, i was intruigued by the quilt book you mentioned and looked to see if it was on Amazon so I could ask my library to get it on loan , but there was no listing for that title. Could you tell me the author's name? Maybe then I can look it up, I love looking at quilt books.

Very very cold here, I'm off to bed.

Steph, that mall cop sounds nuts.. Probably she was the kid in school who tattletaled everything to the teacher. I never understand how people can be so unpleasant, though she sounds more than that. I've really been enjoying your vintage pics..

Stephanie ~ I know it seems weird that you were busted for taking photos, but most retail stores have the policy of no outside photos. For goofy reasons like you could be from a competing store/mall getting the lowdown on certain sales or something, or more scary reasons like scoping out a kiddo to kidnap or getting photos to put on a f e t i s h site. I had photos of my oldest in his prefolds stolen/copied and put on an icky site like that - and all I'd been doing was showing online friends how I use a snappi to keep the diaper on. *shudder*

Back in my years working retail we had to gently usher people out of the store if they had a camera they were using... unless they went and got photo releases for all the random strangers that ended up in the photos and all that.

Ronna, my problem is that the "girls" are too dam big to start with so spanx can't shift in that direction and if it shifts downward I'll have clowns feet!..LMAO So no spanx for me....and Marie baby just bought a smaller sized spanx to look 5# lighter...she's gonna be a real mess when someone cuts those things off of her and it all comes tumbling out. I'm a great cook and like you love to eat everything I cook so this raw diet and all these salads have curbed cooking anything worth eating. I'm one to either really cook like you mean it or don't at all. It's just hell being short is all I can say.

Lanna, if I had seen notices that pictures were prohibited then I wouldn't have taken any...never even crossed my mind about what you are mentioning....so the carousel area with the children is a perfect spot for perverts to hang out and take pics..too many sick people in the world...takes the fun out of enjoying the beauty of things which was all I was doing.

Steph, you're just height challenged! mother used to say she was 5' 1", but she shrunk to less than 5 ft and her mother was even shorter. The men were only my height, 5'6".
Karin, if it's the second book I mentioned, it's Whimsies & Whynots: A Playful Approach to Quiltmaking by Mary Lou Weidman. published by That Patchwork Place in 1997. It's autographed to Barbara inside. I can send it to you; think it's one you'd enjoy looking at. I know you don't need to know "how", but looking at these quilts may give you more ideas for yours.

That book sounds great Ronna, but I can probably get my library to find me a copy to look at. Now that you have unearthed your Bernina you may need this book for inspiration..the customer reviews were really glowing. Right now I'm thinking -more wool blankets- I thought my furnace had died, but no, it's just way TOO COLD! It might be forty inside this house but I shudder to think what it is like outdoors. I'm getting too old for this!!!

Right, I've checked in and now I'm going to take my coffee and burrow back under the covers and get my reading gloves out.....

oh well, steph, take ur pics and sweetly tell em to go away. people have the ability to make judgement calls, that is why we have a brain, too bad most people given any amount of authority over anything lose the ability to use the brain...such is life I suppose.

Karin, cold is not good. i hear ya, freezing here, been so cold the kids are actually going out to play a game of pond hockey..here in Southern Indiana..what the heck? Scares the beejeebers outta me, but the kids have been doing it for days and we are very chilly this winter!

made 1 faery costume last night, winter flower faery, so a bunch of fleece was involved, I will whittle this stash down I swear it.

Hi everyone!! Busy weekend sewing, cleaning and bowling with my students (for a fundraiser--it was fun). I have read all of the posts and feel caught up now.

Today I am making my minis for the swap. I might actually enjoy doing them now that I have an idea. Then this week I will do the tea cozy design I have in my head. Won't be on here much this week between sewing and school and drama club, trip planning, etc. Have a great weekend!!
