I'm getting outside today as much as possible. Supposed to be upper 50's and my garden area needs a clean out and bushes trimmed.

$50 Ruthie, they won't get much cheaper. Someone buy some owl hats!!!

Monica, hop over to Flagstaff while gas is still cheap!

The bank paid someone to winterize our cabin...double checked to MAKE SURE...what good it did...broken pipe at the water pump...didn't even bother draining the pipes then left the door wide open to the pump house...they did drain the hot water heater and then didn't bother to make sure the breaker was turned off to it. So this means that the hot water heater sat simmering (empty) for 4 days before we arrived.

Bonne, Oh how pretty it is!! I wish I lives closer to Flagstaff!! My mother-in-law has a Singer treadle! I ought to ask her about it! Right now hubby is in the no spending mode so another sewing machine is out of the question! I guess I need to get busy and sell some yarn!

Steph, What a bummer! Some people just have no sense unless you spell it out for them step by step!!

Linda, Stay warm and be careful in all that ice!

O.K. Girls, I need some advice. I sold an item on eBay. It was a panel which had borders added. The buyer tells me that she isn't happy with the border, because the corners were not clipped. Are corners supposed to be clipped? She wants to send the items back and wants a full refund including shipping she paid and shipping costs to send the item back.

I personally don't want to deal with her in the future, so I have blocked her from bidding. I told her that most sellers do not reimburse for the shipping costs of sending the items back. She told me that she had an unhappy customer and she returned all the money back for shipping including the original amount paid for shipping and the amount for shipping the item back. I inspect all items before shipping the out. I probably should just give her all the money back, she seems to be a royal pain. I decided not to reply to me message until some of you gals give me some feedback.

Sharon curves should be clipped. Are you talking about an apron?
I would fully refund her as customer is always right but I too probably wouldn't deal with her again and would let her know that as this wasn't your policy. Hope that helps

Bonne, You are the Queen of finding things! I never thought to look under Mohave County! There are a lot of listing in my area, but no treadle! I will have to keep an eye out though especially now that I know where to look!

No, I am not talking about curves on an apron.
The item is like a pillow panel (square), which was turned in to a quilt top. There is one strip of fabric sewn on the left and one on the right side of the panel, and again one piece of fabric sewn on the top and one along the bottom edge of the fabric panel.

Steph~I am so sorry to hear about your trouble with the cabin. How horrible. I hope they pay to fix the damage done.

Sharon~I think I would refund her, also. She does seem to be a royal pain but by refunding her you are showing that you're better than that. I also wouldn't deal with her again, either.

Jess~I don't have to go anywhere until tonight~then it's off to work I go.

Bonne~I plan to save up for a treadle by this summer. I am so sorry to see this one pass without being able to get it. My money tree stopped growing and now it just won't start growing anymore. LOL

Monica~Same thing here~hubby says there's no money so no machine. He did just buy me the $400 one that I haven't worked on yet. So, I guess he has a point. But I just don't think guys understand this stuff.

I did the kids reports for the school dept. They went off to the mail with hubby just now. YEAH!! Those are such a pain.

I am going to start sewing now, Carrie. It is 1:20 pm and it's off to sewing I go.

In quilting we do usually cut off points but I agree she is probably one of those picky perfectionist so the easiest way to solve it is explain to her your policies and do no more work for her and also refund her so you don't damage your buisness.
If we could see it it would also make it easier to help you

Monica, you just said the magic word. MIL.
That's where I got my first Singer treadle from.
Quickly, butter her up first, then mention how much you would just LOVE to have a treadle to sew
on, but alas can't find one you can afford much less find one close by. MMMWWWAAGGgggghhhhh!!!!

Gals, I reviewed the buyer's comment to me and realized what she was talking about. It wasn't about the corners being clipped, but she wanted the corners to be sewn at an angle (or mitered), if you understand what I am trying to say.

There is no binding. It is ready for someone to use in a quilt or wall hanging. When I make quilts, the final corners are mitered.

I looked at other panels on eBay and they are sewn the same way that these were.

Sorry Sharon I didn't know you quilted. So watcha gonna do fix it?
I was trying to figure out what you were talking about that last statement clears it up so I guess you just got a picky quilter but I would agree if I was to pay and there is 4 sides I would want it mitered. As I would be mitering the rest.

Brenda-

The mcCalls apron pattern that you showcasedd on page one is the same one I use and I LOVE it!!!

I get so many compliments on it and it is very flattering in style! I've never felt so attractive in an apron!

Mitered corners are not easy to do, and they are not traditionally done on most older quilts. She sounds like a fusspot to me....

Speaking of fusspots, my snow plow guy came and offered to move my car for me to clean up my driveway and he discovered it isn't working, all the transmission fluid has leaked out. I don't know if this is because of my accident, as the repair shop has already xdone such a lousy job. It's being towed away and maybe Monday I'll have an answer...I am going to be a fuusspot if they don'e fix my car correctly. Rant over. Well, most of it.

Strph, So sorry to hear about your problems at your cabin. Being an absentee houseowner does seem to present some challenges. What a mess though, I hope you get it straightened out....

Bonne, once again, you are a dangerous woman, you will have us all on the treadle path.

Time for more caffeine and another pain pill. This day is getting tiresome, and I thought it was tThursdqay for some reason, not that that makes me any less house bound, just threw me off schedule...

K.

Carrie, I have done about 3 quilts in my life time. I only make them for gifts. Speaking of which, now that I have my machine back, I need to work on the quilt I started a year ago. Every time I went to work on it, I would get special custom orders, or would be swamped.
