Naomi I hope you'll post pics of the civil war dress when you get it finished.
Sheryl lyn,
Those curtains are beautiful and the tablecloth is so cute! I think I have some of that fabric.

Denise, you better believe I'm gonna post pictures! I'll have lots of pictures! one of the 50s dress, one of moms dress(I remade the top and bottom so it counts) grandmas civil war dress, hannahs dress, the baby outfit for sewing class...and my room! hahaha

progress report= one sleeve on, one sleeve about to go on as soon as I finish the cuff and do the gathers in the top, then that'll be finished.*edit*both sleeves on now*edit*I love the sleeves on this dress, and hope I have time to redo my sleeves....love how these big billowy sleeves turned out!

Spending time with your granddaughter is more important than the sewing room.

I can't believe no one has bought that sewing machine yet. It's very similiar to my 503A , and believe me, they are powerful babies. No belts, all metal gear driven. Usually they want upwards to $200-300 plus ship. Jess calls me a pot-stirrer. ROFL

Wow.... <pant, pant> I finally caught up with this thread. Well, I am spending my day sewing today....just made two aprons...posted pics on my workshop blog....will post one of the one here....but you will have to check the blog for the best of the two...

Well, our party was a success....boy did it require a huge amount of work (cooking) and then I decided to make a table cover and a cover for my buffet....like a huge placemat that covered the entire table except for one inch of the table showing all around.....looked really nice. Maybe I will take a picture...but not now. It is almost three and I have not even gotten a shower yet....been sewing like a madwoman. Gotta go get myself together.!

I think we should truly force an issue with hats in this country. I look at pictures of men from the 40s and 50s and they looked so dignified and the women looked lovely. That is missing from society today.

Autumn, I meant to tell you that I loved your livie too!! I need new furniture so badly. It looks so cozy in there.

Great apron Bev! I am making a new one too!

You wonder where all these ladies are that are wearing hats...I look at some beautiful ones in Dillard's department store and other stores..I very seldom see a lady wearing a hat at church much less anyplace else. So where are these ladies..you know they're buying these hats.

Both of my younger children, well they are young adults now, wear hats. My son does not go out without one, He has a touring cap, a bolero and a top hat. Wears all three on a regular basis. My daughter wears all types of hats. I think she would be considered a collectorand she wears them all. I on the other hand would love to wear hats but do not have a hat head. I look terrible in every hat except maybe a ball cap. Not very dressy though.

Jeez...here the sign sits in my kitchen, it is so humid here that I cannot get the paint to cure any faster. I just have to be very patient.

Naomi, you impress me with all that you do, especially as a teenager and trying to do schoolwork. I hope that you get caught up on your schoolwork. I look forward to seeing the pictures of the dresses, especially the baby outfit.

thanks Bonne, it was fun to make. I made one for my mom, and one for my mom in law for Christmas. Hope they like it.
I'm thinking the design would look lovely across a kitchen valance and on a tea towel in a kitchen.
