How many of you out there love it? I have some turquoise rings and earrings from Mexico that my sister-in-law's mother gave me. I also have some turquoise necklaces and one bracelet. I like to wear them with either "warm" colors or neutral colors. And if I ever get a motorcycle (a little fantasy of mine) I want it to be turquoise and orange.

I love turquoise jewelry. I had bought some beautiful earrings in AZ years ago that I wear all the time. I don't go for the huge, clunky look. I prefer the pretty silver/turquoise delicate looking jewelry instead.

Oooo I have been on a mission to find the perfect-for-me turquoise necklace for like the last year and half almost.
Haven't found 'the one" yet, but have found a few other pieces I love.

My mother loves it, I mean, like, LOVES it. She has 30 or so pieces of turquoise and coral and turquoise and silver concho necklaces that she has purchased over the years from the Indian market in Taos, New Mexico--she wears them with denim dresses, butter colored leather jackets, etc..very southwest dressing...I don't dislike it, but it doesn't suit me. Sure hope Violet likes it, because she's getting all of it when my mother passes (so she says :))

Melanie, believe it or not, I got her a piece she adores from Coldwater Creek, and she buys some of her favorites from QVC. They showcase several Native American artists...

Oh I have been adding to my collection since I was 14 years old - that means 36 years of purchasing and loving this style of jewelry. Yes, I also have tons of beads awaiting new creations and also just hunks of it raw. I think for some of us it is like our pearls - it never goes out of style and we wear it with just about everything.

Great to know others out there are just wild about it too.

There is a Native American art show this weekend in a nearby town so it should be interesting to see what kind of jewelry they have. Don't know if I'll be able to buy any--this is a high class art show. But I can gaze longingly at the eye candy and marvel at how beautiful it is. Turquoise also goes good with my eyes, or so I've been told. And I love southwestern colors. Never been to Taos but would love to visit it someday.

Yep, I second QVC, Jonni! They have great jewelry. Relios.com also has great turquoise (and coral and other stuff). I'm new - can I say that here???

Love it, love it, love it. Have collected for more than 30 years, and first got interested when I was 11 (way more than 30 years!) when I went West on vacations with my parents. I even have a ring from then. I got some great stuff on Ebay in the late 90's.

I like the real deal.....and the vintage 40 and 50's bracelets are my favorite. Squash blossom is pretty, and the old nickel silver is great......

I haver a beautiful squash blossom necklace that my father gave to me when I was a teenager.

I make a lot of turquoise jewelry. I love mixing the stones I use with it, like garnet, amethyst and coral. I also make a lot of it with gold as not everyone can wear silver.

I prefer the greener turquoise, but some of the blues are breathtaking.

Beware, much of whats offered these days is actually dyed magnesite. It looks a great deal like the real thing and its often passed as the real deal. Magnesite has great color and beautiful lines, but its often only blue with black lines, not the same veining.

Magnesite is actually really beautiful as well and its a lot less expensive. Its not a bad purchase, you just shouldnt pay a turquoise price for it.

I lived in Arizona for 25 years...just recently moved back to Texas to take care of the old folks. Anyhoo......every year for my birthday, Christmas and wedding Anniversary my DH would buy me a piece or set or pieces of Native American Jewelry. I have a very healthy collection of it......and love it. I wear 14 sterling bangles on my left arm all the time....they never come off....I probably have 25 or 30 more of them...and do add some every once in a while. I can't even tell you how many cuffs I have. I have quite a few necklaces....2 being Squash's.

We try to only buy the jewelry that has the makers hallmark on it. And only off the reservation or places like Ortega's or (especially) Chief Dodge. We have come to know the Yellowhorse brothers....and always visit them when we are going through Cameron, AZ...on the reservation.
Sterling and turquoise are my favorites. I have a few pieces with some gold thrown in...but my preference is sterling. I love all the Arizona turquoise...especially Bisbee turquoise. The Bisbee mine also throws an opals from time to time...and I have one cuff with turquoise, opal and coral. And I love the turquoise from the Fox mine in Nevada. I want turquoise that is mined here in the USA....especially the southwest.

Ciao,
Kate

I have always loved turquoise, but living in Ohio never got any really good pieces. A farmgirl did send me some nuggets in which I fully intend to make earring out of. I have a bracelet that a client of mine brought me back from somewhere out West. I think it's elegant and timeless.

I did find some lime green chalk turquoise at a bead show. I don't know if it's real, but it made a specatcular bracelet that I get compliments on all the time. Ooooh, now I've got the itch to go create! Bye!

Welcome Jonnie in Texas, glad to see you joining the farmgirls.
there is special thread called "Welcome wagon" where you can write a word or two about yourself and the welcome is quite pleasant.
I too like turquoises, have one vintage necklace and wear it very often.

Turquoise is my favorite too! In fact last night one of my sisters hands me her ring right off her finger saying it is too big for her and do I want it? Well, two of my other sisters say they will snag it if I dont and of course that made it sooooo much more fun to put on my finger! heeheehee! We all get together to make noodla sometimes....this german dish my grandmother grew us up on. Some people dont like it but we moan and groan over it while throwing watermelon down right after a bite or two just for good measure. I used to go on "turquoise treks" on the outskirts of Las Vegas and into the desert but havent done it in several years. I have alot from SW and just garage sales and gifts from my honey. Will be passing it on down to my daughter one of these days to sport around. Until then its like looking at a piece of sky which is great on a rainy day!

I love turquoise! One of the good things about living in the northeast is its lack of popularity here. Some times you can find good deals in antique and consignmnent shops. I have a simple but large piece of rustic blue brown in a gold bezel. When I wear it everyone wants to know where I got it. An antique shop! I am obsessed with coral and buy it when I can find and afford it.

Victoria--I almost forgot! I have a fabric postcard to send to you--I was thinking they were made from felted wool but it's just scraps of fabric. E-mail me and I'll get it in the mail soon as I can--I hadn't really thought of searching the antique shops here for turquoise jewelry but I'll have to give it a try.

Oh.... I love it. Right now I have two bracelets, a necklace, a charm, two rings, and two pairs of earings. My fav piece has to be one of the braclets I got from a friends grand mother in New Mexico. Its a cuff, and I fits so well. I really love that piece.
