what is your favorite style or outfit when you want to have a night on the town? post a picture if you'd like.... i'd love to see our pretty farmgirl fashions!!!

unfortunately, i don't have a pic yet of my latest favorite outfit... but it's a simple black dress i got at Ross. if it's cooler outside, i wear a coat over it that i found at a thrift store... very vintage looking, cream colored with black stripes. and i found these cute vintage looking flower things to put in your hair (or use as a brooch!)... i feel very 40's when i wear this outfit! oh, i also wear my favorite black, striped heels... i feel fabulous!

As a fashion major I love to dress up, but its always on my terms. For day time I love distressed jeans and heels with a few fun layers on top (print top with a vest...basic t-shirt with a sweater...lace cami with a patterned jacket), possably a belt or scarf, and almost always a quirky hat and a wrist full of bangles. For evening its skinny jeans, heeled knee high boots, and a loose gauzy top. Sorry, no pics. I'm usualy the one with the camera.

Again no picture, but I have to say I still like farmgirl chic when dressing up. Knee length or longer skirts, heels, my fancier jewelery from my grandmother, matching bag, even gloves and scarves. Old-fashioned, but classic.

Yes I play the spoons, but I do it with perfectly manicured nails...

No pics, yet, but VINTAGE all the way! I have a huge collection of vintage clothing and usually wear a dress, do up my hair, jewelry, handbags. If I am going to dinner with Hubby, I wear a pair of skinny jeans, and one of my fave tops; lace, satin, vintage......."dangly" earrings, heels; even my vintage, pointy-toed cowgirl boots.

I have a southwestern flair to my attire. Usually jeans with my brown cowboy boots. A fancy top with lots of turquoise jewelry or silver. I always have at least 2 bracelets on my left arm. I love fall so I can wear my fitted jackets out. I've been sick, but once I get dressed up, I'll post a pic.

When I get gussied up, I usually can't wait until I can get ungussied! But I still try and be comfortable ...I wear long flowing skirts, and silk shawls or scarves. I love big bracelets, and light colors, and strappy sandals or boots.

I'm usually into very classic (classy) dresses, if not vintage, then vintage inspired. It's what suits my figure best, to boot. A lot of black--black lace of champagne tafetta, black lace over black, etc...I also have to have a killer pair of shoes, usually black satin stileto's or a great pair of black heels. I do have a vintage lime green silk kimono style dress that a friend's grandfather brought back for his wife from China in the 50's...it's got a slit up the side rather high, so I have to be VERY aware of my strides, but it's HOT. And such a great color! Looks great with the right red lipstick.

Corrine - my DADDY of ALL people in the world, bough me the boots when I was about fifteen. Thirteen years ago. He worked as a Counselor at a local Goodwill, and used to buy all the boots and hats that came through. He's a collector of Western Wear, and has quite a stash. I wore them some, but then in my late teens I went through a stage where I only wore what was "hip" and current, and they were not. It scares me when I think of how close I came to throwing them back into a "donate" box. The only thing that kept me from it was that they were a loving and thoughtful gift from my dearest Dad. Thank GOD I kept them...... they're a treasure. Black, with pointy toes and low heels.... *sigh* Today, I still buy all the western wear I find at thrifts. Last week I scored a vintage 1970's STETSON cowboy hat.... except it's a youth size and I can't wear it! DANG!If you like vintage boots, check out Ariat's women's boots. Several pairs they offer look quite vintage; although they're pricey as well. I am going to be opening an Etsy shop soon with some of my vintage stuff, and as I find stuff like this, I'll be selling them. I'll keep everyone here posted on the opening of the shop.

When my late hubby and I did go out on the town, it was still jeans, nice ones that I bought new, my black shepler boots with fringe, a black lacy camisole and a black fitted short leather jacket if needed. As far as jewelry, silver bangle braclets, a silver wolf choker necklace.

I usually wear all black and Chanel No.5. Think Audrey in Breakfast at Tiffanys.
Something classy and elegant.
However, that said, I rarely dress up-maybe once a year.

Ha! Dawn, thanks :) I do love me some gorgeous shoes and dresses! And, it helps to find $200.00 pairs of stileto's on the clearance rack at TJ Maxx because noone can cram their feet into my size 4.5's :)

I do like to get dressed up--one of my favorite things to do!

Check out my blog for some pics of some farm-style stuff I am getting into. It's not really dress-uppy; just cute. I haven't got pics of dress up stuff yet.
You're lucky to have size 41/2 feet, Jonni! All the cutest shoes are so tiny most of the time.

When I worked, I had to dress to the hilt every day. Lots of evening functions and evening attire. I probably had 20 very conservitive suits and all the accessories. 100 pair of shoes buy not too many handbags. Had to carry a brief case so didn't carry a purse. When I retired, a lot of my co-workers said that I would miss the lifestyle. Wrong! I wear jeans and sweats, shorts and t-shirts. When I dress up, I wear my good jeans. Really dressed up would be a pair of slacks, nice blouce or sweater, low heel shoes. I work in the yard in short shorts or bathing suit. My grandkids and great grand daughter think I am either nuts or too cool.

Dressy-casual = pretty printed skirts or some retro-inspired '50s day dresses and cute flats or wedges for me, and really dressy evening wear is '50s, '40s, and '30s inspired. Pencil skirts and blouses, floaty black dress, pearls, soft '40s style wavy hair, and lots and LOTS of high heels! I've even got this great dark blue wool coat that is collarless and double breasted that looks SOOOO vintage! Long with a belt. So cute!

I do love dressing up a lot, despite the fact that I spend most of my time in jeans, hiking boots, and cute tops. :) So fun to read about everyone else!

Sarah! I just responded to Heathers from back in 2009 and then read further to see your current post! I know what you mean, mostly in jeans myself, but the love the skirts and dresses of the 30's, 40's and 50's! Your dress up style sounds great!

I'm mostly a jeans type girl but for church and special occasions I wear dress pants and dressier blouses with boots or flat shoes. I do have a few long skirts that I wear in the spring and summer that can be either casual or dressy, it depends on the shirt I wear with them. I guess since I've lost quite a bit of weight I need to go and buy some new dressy things for the upcoming season.
