Oh this is fantastic!!! I love all the clothes, and I have patterns for alot of things that are very similar. Fire up the sewing machine and crochet needels girls. Looks like 2010 is going to be the year of the FarmGirl!! Woohoo!!!

I wish it would've been a little more 'farm-girl-ish' in the more realistic style of Maryjane but..well, this is run-way anyway. LOL. Thanks for sharing!

Maybe his idea of farmgirl is thin as a scarecrow....my fingers are bigger than those legs.

Yep, I agree, the models are pencil thin - nothing has really changed there. What is incredible is this: The farmgirl phenomena and the general ripple effect of the mindset that is afoot has made an impact. An impact so significant that an exceedingly aloof genre of people VERY different than the way you and I and most of the rest of civilization lives, that 'they' not only noticed...they sought to emulate it on the runway! Granted, No farmgirl in her right mind would wear Lagerfeld while canning beets :o), but hey, the GOOD news is that farming in the general sense is becoming Chic.

Who'd have thunk it?? Agriculture being IN?? I can die now.

We ranch for a living and I've never known any other way of life than being frugal and re-purposing. The last word is the new chic word for what my Grandparents did all their lives. They were young people struggling to make it during WW I, the Depression, The dirty 30s, and WW II. Their entire young adult lives involved the most severe need for 're-purposing'. It wasn't fashionable then, it was called survival. Their their mindset was FOREVER molded around their youth as children of homesteaders and then the years of hardship afterward. No wonder we call them the 'Greatest Generation'. "Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without" were words they had no choice but to live by.

I pray we NEVER have to endure what they did, but I fear we may never have the depth of character they possessed either. Our generation is waking up to realities that made their generation so rich in personal depth...and that is exciting and such a good sign in an otherwise kinda discouraging world. I hope we embrace as much of it as we can without actually having to experience what they did.

You and I and other farmgirl types in their various forms are trying to lives closer to all things real and right. I guess fashion is a part of it. We are a tactile, visually inspired species.

Now to get some healthy flesh on those poor model's frames. I'm not holding my breath for the fashion industry to return entirely to sanity. But, then, there was a time when the Ruebens models were the hottest thing in their era. I can see those voluptuous creatures in Magnolia Pearl's fashions, but they'd fill up those bloomers and
there would be some cleavage peaking out of those lace bodices !!
~ Shery Jespersen (who could also fill a set of bloomers :o)

Actually, there is an even newer term to describe the way our grandparents lived: granny-nomics. I kid you not. And it's cropping up in speeches in big cities like Chicago, and people are paying attention.
"Farm-chic" may be but a passing fad in the fashion world, but it seems that granny-nomics is here to stay. I had a salad tonight with greens from my salad table, and I added some wild strawberries that grow in my yard. My neighbors may think I'm weird, but i really believe in living this way. I grew up rural, and that's where my heart is.

There are some beautful things but I'm pretty sure there aren't many farmgirls running around in a short dress with a thong on underneath it. lol

That was a very uncharacteristic theme for Chanel! The set was pretty amazing but I was a little disappointed by the clothing. Thanks for sharing.

I love it, but "farmgirl" on the runway isn't really a new thing. Dolce and Gabana did it back in the late 80's-early 90's, for their show they actualy accented the models with bits of straw in their hair and on the garments.

What we write today slipped into our souls some other day when we were alone and doing nothing.

Thank you to all my sisters who visited my blog...it has only been up a week. Oy, the learning curve!! Also, thank you to those who contacted me privately about my pieces in the new issue of The Cluck. I had my issue printed out. Doesn't Carol Hill do a wonderful job of making the magazine and the Cluck a visual feast!! shery

That was fun. I love fashion and while most of that was not really farmgirl style, just the fact they used that phrase is more publicity for what we are about. Thanks for sharing this, I thourghly enjoyed it!

Now I need to figure out how to adapt some of those ideas into clothing real farmgirls can wear!!

Some people look for happiness, others create it!

We are never alone in the forest of Sisters! We "Mountain Farmgirls" are outstanding in our field!
