linda, I kinda like windmills. Nothing like the winds blownin across the prairie and the windmill bringing up water so everything can grow. And it made it so much easier than haveing to pack it in buckets from a stream or well. Connie

Thats for sure, Connie! Although more often than not I long for a little cabin in the back woods with that well or stream! Lol!

It is not farmgirl per se, but I have decided I would like a log home with little sunflowers in front of it or some kind of sunflower with it. I live in a log home surrounded by bluestem grass and we do have wild sunflowers in late summer. You are right; a half naked chicken with feathers flying wouldn't look so good. I did think about a mule head with a sunflower behind its ear but my husband thought the mule might be called something else. I attended Central Missouri State University (now UCM) whose mascot is a mule. Linda is your daughter going to make them with a computer or embroidery machine? I am just curious.

I have been following the stories, oh the lives we lead as Farmgirls. It made me recall the year we were going to raise chickens for our use and we ended up busy all summer. Here you go; my husband and I had decided that we would order 50 chichkens for our use plus 10 turkeys. So we got the call that our order was coming in so off my husband went to pick it up. So he comes back with our order plus 50 additional baby chicks. Some one did not show up and the delivery person offered them to my husband. He said it was a good deal. This was 20 years ago when we would order and the delivery guy would come to the town and deliver. Well that summer it seemed that we would never end plucking chickens. Believe me ladies I could not eat chicken for several months after we finished with all the plucking for the year. So as I sit and write this I can hear our new baby chicks. We picked up 6 turkeys and a varity of baby chicks to add to our flock. Our grandaughter should enjoy seeing them tomorrow. Happy Easter.

Viola, The story was great. One time when I was still working we would have a shipment of baby chicks come in for somene on the route. Now the carrier didn't want to listen to 100 baby chicks peepin all day so she would unload them at my office for who ever ordered them to pick up or she would stop and pick them up to deliver on the back side of the route. So I would be the one on the phone trying to notifiy the customer and listen to the chicks. Well don't you just know one day the chicks got out of the box in the office. Then the chicken roundup was on. nothing funnier than a middle aged woman down on all fours trying to get baby chicks out from under a sorting table. Oh those were the days! Thank God for retirement. My one and only story about chickens. When I was about 3, I went to visit my aunt and uncle in Odessa, Mo. They had a farm. Now you have to understand that my mother never let me get dirty. So she packed all my pretty, ruffled little dresses. Now I'm going to a farm, not a tea party. Anyway I went out to the chicken coop with my aunt to gather eggs. An old rooster started after me and I started crying and running. Well my pretty little dress got caught on a nail and down I went and my dress had a big rip. No more gathering eggs for me. In fact I think it was awhile before I got to go visit again.

Happy Easter Day, ladies! Well, the sisterhood henhouse will take a bit more time to set up! More paperwork has to come! But, we are set up over in 'farmgirl chapter chatter'! We can meet and chat over there now! I haven't kept chickens since my grown kids were little. But I was soo excited to have my lil flock of 5 or 6 hens and a couple ducks! Well, when the hens began to lay, you can imagine my farmgirl happiness! One even laid double yolks on and off. Anyway, the first time I cracked them open for our farmfresh breakfast? All my kids thought the eggs were a funny color and wouldnt eat them! Tried to explain why the color was richer than store eggs! My kids never would try them! Soo-I enjoyed my eggs and put them into baking! The kids continued to enjoy their store bought eggs! Gosh, I miss those days!! Have a great day ladies!

I loved the story about the kids not wanting to eat the farm eggs. We went though the same thing when our son was young. We would have to buy eggs. I would use the eggs in my baking. Funny now - he will call and ask us to bring in eggs. His daughter always has scrabble eggs in the morning when she spends the day with us. So life goes on. We will have our grand children here for dinner. I am looking forward to it.
Enjoy your day Farmgirls.

Have fun with the grand children. They grow up so fast and then their interest change. We didn't color eggs this year they all thought they were too old. POOH! Next year I'm going to color my own.hahaha

My mother-in-law and sister-in-laws used to color eggs with all the grandkids. They would hide the eggs over and over until they tired. They are all grown now. There are only a few in the next generation and we don't see them very much. My church has a big easter egg hunt for the kids. We had several children yesterday.

Katherine, Children are such fun and I think that's what keeps us young! Up until this year DD and I would have the 3 children around the table and first color eggs, and they'd all try to out do grammy. Because I'd always do my artsy things. Even the 20 and 16 yr old was there coloring eggs. Then after cleaning that all up, DD had Easter shaped cookies baked and we'd all decorate them. After they were all done, we'd all have one!!!YUM Well someday we'll have little ones again and get to start all over. I'm glad you had fun at your church egg hunt!!

I just thought of something. Do you want the scrapbook pages to be 8 1/2 by 11 or 12 by 12?
