Any embroiders out there? What about cross stitch? I LOVE embroidering. My favorite is to tint the fabric with crayons and then stitch around it. I collect vintage patterns and post them on my blog.

Here's some of my work.

What are you working on? Do you have any favorite patterns? I'm currently working on Russian Nesting dolls for a swap.

Cute Pam - I like the vintage stuff, looks like tattoo flash some of it. I haven't embroidered in quite a while but I used to do alot. I did two whole jean jackets when I was in high school, almost entirely with itty-bitty writing, all of it song lyrics that I felt strongly about. I did some jeans too, I've been thinking about starting up again, and maybe learning all the stitches this time:)

Hi Pam,
I love your work. I also really enjoy the vintage patterns. THe 1940's being my favorite. There is a quilt book of vintage applique patterns of ladies, have you seen it? They make great patterns.

I love to embroider and do cross stitch. I just finished embroidering a kitchen towel and I am cross stitching a teddy bear afghan with thirteen smaller blocks and one big block that is probably going to take me the rest of my life to finish. I love your work, it's absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

I embroider. I'm not a fan of doing cross-stitch (though the finished products can be lovely). Mostly these days I embroider doll faces:

and other toys:

Pam, I've seen your stuff on Flickr and the Feeling Stitchy blog, I think...beautiful stuff.

Edited to add: sorry those pics are so huge!

Wow! I love the doll faces and the little girl and boy are too cute. Tinted is so easy! You need high quality crayons-iron on your pattern like you normally would and then color very lightly the areas you want to tint. If you want it darker, color another layer. You don't want it too heavy because it can get waxy. Some people lightly press the color in to set it. The tinting can be washed and with each wash it sets the color more and more. There are a few tutorials around that give a little bit more detail.

The books for the vintage ladies (the camping woman and the faces) are from the books Vintage Tinted Linens and Quilts
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1574214624/antiquequilta-20

and this one.
http://www.amazon.com/5206-Ladies-Leisure-Suzanne-McNeill/dp/1574215167/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_c

I bought them both but I originally found them at my public library. I'm off to check out the hen house!

I love to embroider anything from flour sack dishtowels to pillowcases to table runners and once when I was in high school I embroidered my favorite pair of tenny-runners. I still remember what I did. I am a Leo and embroidered a lion's head on each shoe. I wore those shoes out only to discover them daintily displayed at my dads school (he was a principal at an elementary school for many years) He retrieved my discarded sneakers and used them in a display relating to a book his class was in the process of reading--LOL!

My specialty is REDWORK!!

How did I miss this thread? I absolutely love all the needlework, and one of my favorite things to do is tint with the color crayons and then stem stitch around things. Right now I am doing pillowcases with the ladies at the bottom with their fancy dresses, and I tinted in their skin and dresses! Really pretty. Glad you joined our henhouse Pam, and anybody else who loves needlework check us out!
The Christmas ornaments/tags I was talking about it in some post or other has the crayon tinting too. Actually everything I do is, even if it is not supposed to. I think it just adds more dimension and I love it!
