I am new to this so I will tell a little bit about my life right now. We live on 10 acres outside of a small South Texas town. We have 6 cows and 5 baby calves due in a few weeks. We have a hay baling & shredding business in addition to my hubby working fulltime. I take care of all the paperwork and a lot of the work around our place. We put in a huge spring garden out of which I do lots of canning and give away what I cannot process. We also put in a fall garden but we do that just to eat. We are in the process of putting in fruit trees but I do pick dewberries and wild grapes around here and make all of my own jellies & jams. We have only been married 4 yrs in June so I am getting a late start at homesteading but better late than never. We also do a number of odd jobs on the side in our spare time. Chickens should be the next critters added to our ranch. We have 3 delightfully wonderful Boston Terriers..2 of them rescue and 1 I raised on a bottle from the day he was born..his momma died at birth.

I look forward to being here and meeting new people and learning all kinds of new things.

Thanks for checking in~

Count your blessings every day!

Hi Lynn, and Welcome! I also am from Texas, I live on 15 acres, and lived here since 93, I have all my life wanted to live on a farm, but hubby did not see it like that and now he wishes he would have gotten me here quicker. We only have chickens right now, we have had in the past goats, cows and pigs. I have just early retired and now am getting things going again. I just lost my little fox terrier,9 years old to cancer. I have not replaced her yet, I am not ready. I am tired of the freezing weather and ready for the spring, already placed order for some seeds for the summer garden and gonna redo some of the flower beds. I have been with MJF for 1 year and I have learned much, you can find out how to do just about anything. Also you can ask questions, and someone will get you the right answer. So welcome again and enjoy yourself with all the other fine farmgirls. Farmgirl #946 Linda

Happy to be a "Raggedy Ann" in a Barbie World!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.
