Having rolled over to 41 this last earth day i am curious how many others are here in my age bracket. I love that there is an over 50 group here! Personally I love my age now. I would not want to go back to my 30's nor 20's. (k, maybe take my thighs from then but otherwise.... no!) I think we should start a 40's group. Figure most of us prob have kids about the same age, going through similar issues in life.... shout out if this interest you as well. :)
I have one daughter, 19 who just moved back home having changed colleges and majors. She had 3 of her 5 years for elec engineer finished when she decided she didnt want that kind of math for life. So on to Nursing, which i think she will enjoy more.
Married 20 years this coming october to my best friend. New puppy, i retired 2 years back, hubby travels for work and i tag along alot. grew up on a dairy farm in NE and so want a farm again. We are rural now on a lake but farm animals are not in the plan for this home. The next home (which will be our final home) yes!

Hi Tanya~ I am heading into 46 this August and will be married 23 years then also. I have a daughter who is 20 and she just returned home after transfering colleges. She was living in NYC for a year and a half and realized that was not the place for her. I love crafting, reading and spending time outside- and now with our hot weather the beach is the place to be!

Hi Tanya! I am 45 (but dont "feel" that old...lol). I have 2 children- my son will be 13 next month and my daughter just turned 11 last month. I love nature, being outdoors, playing in my gardens both flower and vegetable, and this past fall I recently "re-learned" how to crochet and made many scarves for Christmas gifts. We live in "suburbia" here on Long Island- we have shy of an acre and have 2 hens right now, planing on a few more cause hubby just built me a new coop/pen and also going to get a pet outdoor rabbit (figure he will repay us with great compost) and the chickens of course give us excellent organic eggs!
I will be married 17 years in September to my wonderful husband, who goes with the flow of all of my "farmgirlish" ways! Gotta love him!

Hi Tanya, I will be 44 in August. I have a 12-year-old daughter (just turned yesterday, firecracker baby). We spend lots of time at soccer and softball games. I enjoy crocheting, knitting, cross-stitching, quilting, and some other sewing. I spend time in my garden, love clothes on the line, planning our house that we will build in a couple of years, and sometimes love canning and cooking, sometimes not. I hate housecleaning, so only really clean when we have company coming over

I turn 47 in August. Two girls 17 and 15 and a boy 12. A wonderful man that I have been with for 8 1/2 years who I actually dated for three months when I was 15 and then met up with again 23 years later. We live on two acres and I spend pretty much all day outside. I have a large veggie garden and fruit trees lots of flower beds and lots of yard work. I have a little shop to sell my crafts that I do on the property. I do canning. I have two dogs and a cat but no other critters. Thinking about chickens. I am not so fond of housework but I always tell people that my kitchen and bathroom are clean but don't eat off the floor. Ha Ha.

I will be 41 in August. I have one daughter who is six and we homeschool. I love crochet, gardening, and needlework.

I will be 42 in October. I love gardening, tatting, painting and papercrafting. No kids of my own but I volunteer with Rotary working with youth exchange students and love it. I have honeybees now and would like to add chickens in the future.

Felt a need to reach out today and connect, so I checked out MJF chat after a LOOOOONG absence and found this topic. PERFECT! I am most certainly in my 40's as I rocked 47 last January. I sure don't feel like I'm pushing 50
I just celebrated my 25th with my hubby in May, and live on an acreage with my two children 12 and 7. I've been at home for 9 years now, but financial stresses are making it necessary to look for work again.
I like to garden, LOVE to sew (but never seem to do it), and am a horrific perfectionist which means my life is a mess! I would love to share ideas and ask questions of people in my stage of life, and look forward to meeting you all.

Glad to see the interest! I figure age is really just a number, not how you feel or behave! :)
Grace, yes our lavender festival is getting ready to start soon! Though our gardens are slow to catch up this year.
Nicole, it would almost be easier to mention crafts i do not do. :) I sew, quilt, knit, dye, spin, make soaps/lotions,scrapbook, stamp, renovate items into new item crafting, etc....
elaine, (we got linked as swap buddies!) I think NY is either for you , or not.
Laurie, good to meet you! I am trying to teach myself to crochet. I just get easily distracted with other crafts and getting things stocked up for fall/xmas craft fairs. Hopefully soon! Would love to make a few granny blankets from my knit scraps.

Ingrid, fate was there with your man! Your place sounds wonderful! Where in BC are you? I spend almost a week each month in Parksville.
Amy, i taught for 12 years. (K and first) I can't even imagine homeschooling though, tough work! Kudos to you!
Marilyn, your not too far away! :) Have you noticed more honeybee's in your area this year? We have at least twice the amount! The kids are lucky to have you!

I love homeschooling. It is funny because most of the Mom's are in their late 20's and 30's. But I was 34 when I had Bri.
I had a harder time turning 30 than I did 40.

Y'all sound like so much fun- dont you sjust wish we all were nearer to one another and go do a girls night out and chat about life? I guess this is the next best place to do it so THANKS to Tanya for starting this thread! Visiting MJ's B&B is on my list of things to do in the NEAR future. I went online and checked it the other day and it says they are FULL for 2011. Oh well- Next Year!!!!!!!!!

Tanya, you are right we aren't too far away. Yes, it does seem like there are more pollinator bees this year - especially native bumblebees. They are everywhere. I have a family of them nesting in my roof this summer - they managed to squeeze through a tiny hole in the screen over a vent. But they only use their nest for one season so I'll wait until they dissapear in the fall and then patch the hole. Hoping they will leave behind some honey when they go!

I'm in my 40's too. Not sure of the where exactly without getting the calculator out. The kids (age 21 and 19) would be able to tell you, but age has been not a big deal. I married someone 9 years older than me so I'm always the young one! Having said that ... it was very difficult being married to a 50 yr old! The deal was, I was to keep him young, but it backfired and he is making me old.
With the kids basically out of the house for the most part, I get to focus on "me" and spend all the time I can outside playing with goats (or fixing fence, mowing, painting...) and also make soap/lotion. Living the good life!

BalancingAct my sister who is 3 yrs my junior cried when I turned 40 then again when I turned 45. Because it was going to happen to her in three years...LOL. I think age is a mind thing. One year for some reason in my mind I did not gain a year but that was okay because I remember another time I gained two. Telling everyone that I was 1 extra year older. Oh well, now when someone asked how old I am my answer is that I was born in '63. I let them do the math. We should have an empty nest this fall. One son married in WV and the other to attend school in V. So a big YAHOO to us in our 40's and move over girls in your 50's we will be there before you know it!!

My mom did that with 28, she accidentally skipped it entirely , everyone thought she was fibbing and just trying to avoid 30 by saying again that she was 29, lol.

I'm in my forties too. I had to do math awhile ago to remember it was 46. I'm glad I don't know exactly how old I am because that must mean I'm feeling good and enjoying life!! I used to say that I had only four-legged children, but that changed with the arrival of my 6 chicks this year.

I'm Kim, and I am looking forward to my 40th birthday in September! I don't mind a bit adding years to my age, and this year I've made sure to let my husband know I want a big fat cake for my 40th birthday.
I'm married, with two daughters ages 12 and 6. I am an office manager for an appraisal company in our small town. I live between Asheville and Charlotte, in Rutherfordton... the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I have been an English teacher, a reporter and a stay at home mom and now am happy just to have a job and a paycheck.
I like to knit and crochet and want to learn to sew better than I do (which is very basic). I also like to read- right now I'm reading A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin.
I have two Nubians, a boy and a girl twins born in March.

I am going to be 41 in December. I have 5 kids, 2-17 year old boys, 12 year old girl, 11 year old boy and a 6 year old girl. We are a blended family.
I was a mis-placed farmgirl for many years. And now I am married to an amazing man that shares my loving of country living and simple values. We have 5 acres and are just getting our 'homestead' established and we have many plans.
I do work part-time outside the home as a dental assitant, but mainly take care of the kids and home.
I am not minding my age. Probably because I feel I have finally gotten my life together and am living the way I want.

CraftyStranger, I think the reason I cried when I turned 40 was because I hadn't accomplished nearly all the things I'd planned to do by the time I was 40 from when I graduated high school. Life has a funny twist at times. I'm just now accepting that.
