Good job Elizabeth joining our group even if you are a baby still. I agree 30 wasnt scary but I was close to the goals I had set so being 6 months off schedule wasn't so bad. I am not ready to say I am done having children. My husband says two is enough and would love his surgery to make sure two is enough. We agree that he can wait on the surgery. I don't know that I even want a third we are great where we are. I think taking the choice away will make me feel old that I am done starting little lives and I can't say that yet. Two or three or twenty kids I know my life will be great. I have a great husband who makes sure we are great.

I am so excited!! Liz, I kinda got "interrupted" with life when I was 27. Life was finally coming together and I was going to be a big girl. Then, my father died suddenly and I had to stay with my Mom. I kind of dated a couple of guys over the next three years, but none of them worked out. One is still a dear friend, but it just never seemed right.
I randomly (and I do mean RANDOMLY) met my Old Man when I was 30 and, while crises have happened since then, life is beginning!
I think that society has changed, but customs have not... we worry about numbers too much, myself DEFINITELY included! But I think we're all kind of figuring this out, too!

A 30s thread! I was always a bit envious of the other "decade" threads...thanks Tasha for starting this one. :)
I'm 32. It didn't really bother me to turn 30, but I've just noticed that things aren't as quick as they used to be. I'm still up and at 'em all the time, don't get me wrong, I've just noticed that some things are a bit more work, and when given the choice, sometimes I'd just like to crawl into bed a bit earlier than I used to. :) Also, I've found I have to be more careful with things I eat. When I hit 30 it was almost like someone put a sugar curse on me - holidays are tricky - if I indulge in too many desserts, I end up with a yeast infection. Never had that problem pre-30. My homeopath said its hormonal. GRR! We're working on it though.
Glad to meet all you other 30s!!

I will be 39 in one week! My husband always laughs at me because I usually cannot remember how old I am and have to think about it for a minute! This birthday though, I AM remembering...I don't know why exactly, but it is bothering me that it is the last of the 30's.....I do not fear aging, just something about it. Oh well!

I am originally from Elk River, so I am like super duper close to Amy. Hmmmmm....what kind of farm-filled day in the dead of winter can we think of? Coffee (or in my case....tea)? A yarn adventure? I wonder what fun goings on will be going on the cities? Us girls up in the sticks can always head down your way! Decisions....decisions.....

UGH!!! LIZ DON'T YOU HATE THAT!!!
My passion is glass beads, but I always get kinda miffed that the only brick and mortar stores to buy decent beads are Michael's, Hobby Lobby and JoAnn - chain stores. Down in Lockhart (about an hour and a half south of me) was a GREAT bead shop where Daddy and I bought a SHLEW of beads, a porcelain bead dish, and other fun things. A year later, we went for our annual barbeque run and it was CLOSED.
Then, about two years ago, we went through the town that I now live in (unfortunately for a memorial service) and I spotted a bead shop. A few months later, I got the gumption to drive back through and check it out, and IT was closed.
Too bad I don't have the time and money for something like that myself!

Hi All! Another 30-something here! I'm 32, I'll be 33 in March. I like my 30's so far, no complaints, I don't really think about getting "old". I have a lot of grey hairs, too! I'm a red head, more auburn now, and I guess that's pretty common. I've been married to my high school sweetheart for 12 years. We have a son who was born into the stars in May 2009, and one happy little boy who just turned one a week ago. I'm a full-time working outside of the home mama, and my husband is a full-time stay at home papa (wish roles were reversed, but happy one of us can be home with our boy). I'm a born and raised country girl living in the city, and hoping to return to the country some day soon. Like most of us, I'm sure, I just wish life wasn't always so darn busy. Really looking forward to having some time off over Thanksgiving.

Amen to that, Anne! I'd love to be able to just run the household, but life is so busy with work and everything else, I just dan't seem to get it going!
I hear it a lot... that we all miss being able to slow down a little bit. Isn't it funny that, everything that is supposed to make our lives easier just takes up more of our time??

I'm 36 and my husband and I have 4 daughters - ages 9, 7, 4 and 1. Early hair greying runs in my family, and I started getting greys when I was about 25. SO unfair. I believe in natural products and zero chemicals, but hair dye has been my one exception. I have my stylist use no ammonia/no peroxide products and do "gentle" temp dye rinses in between visits (sometimes I can't fit a trip to the salon in except for once every three months, and I have to use home rinses just to keep the greys hidden!)
I really hope to have a fifth child someday, but my husband is not in favor of it. He comes from a large family himself, but I think this economy scares him.

Suzanne, I'd like to have just *one* child but my personal economy has always been scary regardless of how the rest of the world is doing.Frustrating because I'm almost 37 and just in the last year or two I've realized I'm running out of time. Fortunately I come from a large family myself and I try to keep in mind that the youngest of my seven siblings was born when my mom was 39. Oh, and the to-dye-or-not-to-dye question has also just started to come up! So far, no. |

Like so many women in my family, I was about 30-percent grey before I turned 30. Call me vain, but I couldn't live with it. Dye was the ONLY option.

I'm pretty lucky - my Mom is 55 & her hair is lighter than it was when she was younger, but you can only see the grays if you look hard/up close! And thankfully I'm the same way! Any time I tried to dye my hair (regardless of whether it was diy or salon), it always turned brassy/orange. So I quit doing it. I don't care, really.
Happy birthday to me today too :). I had a birthday party last night (due to my nephew's wishes that Aunty should have a party lol), and got some neat things - earrings, bracelet, slippers, starburst candies, and soap :). It was nice :).

Thanks Suzanne! It's just on my Mom's side, Dad's side is grey/white early on lol, which is why they all have bald heads now lol haha.

Thank you Liz, I did have a great party!
Everyone must be busy - I know I am! - this board is really quiet now :). It will pick up after Christmas, I'm sure. Right now, I'm busy trying to make some Christmas cards, Christmas presents - a quilt, a Care Bear, and some unknown gifts right now. I better get my butt in gear or I won't get them done for Christmas! Next year, I am totally starting in March for everything! So much easier!

Well Hello Ladies!!!
I am 37 and am loving my 30's! I had a surprise party thrown for me by my DH when I turned 30 and I never fretted about that milestone. I think I was more relieved to be in the 30's than anything. Everyone had been telling my hubby and I we were just babies all the time in conversations (we married at 22 and 23 years of age)and it was always insane for me to think of myself as a "baby" as I had 3 kids by the time I was 28. Now that I have a few "laugh lines" and (gasp) a gray hair (yep, I found one this summer sticking straight up from the top of my head! LOL! Like cindy-lou who from Dr. Seuss) I'm feeling quite comfortable in my aging self! :) I do see why folks called us "babies" then, cause most of the people that had children the same age as ours were 10-15 years older than us.
As I approach the 40 mile-marker, I don't think I am scared of it. I think I'm doing a lot of pondering of what I've accomplished and what I had pictured me doing before I was 40. Age is so relative though. I mean seriously, every day is what you make of it and we'll always be as young as we think we are...my grandma died at 94 this year and I remember her telling me at the beginning of this year that in her mind she feels like she's in her 30's, but her body is just misbehaving! I loved my Grandma's attitude. She always said the nursing home was for old people...even in her late 80's and 90's she was saying this. She lived on her farm till the last 3 months of her life. I think the amazing thing is that every year we turn older, we have that much more wisdom under our belt. I like being wiser. I like being comfortable in who I am and not scared to learn new things and not worry about all that silly stuff we did when we were teenagers. I'm also not scared of gray hair, but I'm hoping for white! I have red hair, so it's a possibility!
Anywho, glad to see other 30 somethings on here! I see we have quite a few Minnesotans in this thread! Woo-hoo! We do all need to get together! :)
Merry Christmas everyone!
~April

I finished my finals earlier this week and am not trying to work on Christmas gifts. I need to have mine done by the 20th.
