LOL, Glad you put that out there that the board is quiet, Pam (22Angel), because I thought it was just that I was missing stuff and sidetracked myself...not to mention my silly laptop has been on the fritz - the "e" key will intermittently lock up, which means I cant log on because my pw has an "e" in it!!! hmmm....maybe I should change it while its liking me so that if it messes up again, I can at least log on!!! LOL!! I"m actually wanting to use these 2 weeks off to catch up on all I'm behind in, but this silly Christmas over-commercialism crops up! I have such a hard time buying gifts for those I hardly know (distant relative's kids), and such when that's not what its about. Not that I want to get off on that discussion, but I find it an added stressor that is unnecessary. Plus, my sweetie has been out of town, so the full load is on me.Phooey.

Well, I had one Christmas party tonight & it was all good until I went to leave & lost an earring! How sad! I'm very disappointed in myself, because they are "special" earrings that my grandma gave me one year & I really love them. They are open hearts & rather delicate. So the fact that I lost one has me a little concerned. I'm hoping that the lady can find it in her shoe/porch area tonight. It's the 2nd time I've "lost" it, so I think it's time to put different ones in. But I'm really hoping that she can find it!

I didn't get my niece's quilt done this weekend like I wanted to. On Saturday, we went to the city (which I needed to do, to get some Christmas presents) & we weren't going to be late, but it was after 3 when we got home, and then I had to run uptown, so it was 4ish when I did get home. Then on Sunday, it was our church Christmas concert & potluck afterwards, so it was around 3 again when I got home. Then I had to get a gift ready for tonight. So now I think I'm going to go to bed. I need to go to bed earlier lately. Well, if I went to bed at a "normal" time all the time, it wouldn't be so bad.

I made some apple cider toffee on the weekend, ya'll can have some :). Hope you enjoy it!

I am 38 and feeling every bit of it. But I am starting feel wiser. My "skunk stripe" is right down the middle, when I forget to color on time. Otherwise a full head of grey since I was 30. Not ready for that.

Hey Pam, I don't know if this helps but if your earrings are those open in the back wires I try to wear either those clear plastic backs they use at the store to keep them on their card or a regular earring back to keep them on my ears. Most times you can get the back up close enough to your ear no one really notices. I hope the hostess finds it for you. I have a few single earrings from years ago I just can not part with because they are special. Their mates will never come back but I still have them.

Me too, Pam! I went & got a whole box of those plastic earring securing things at either Walmart or hobby lobby/Michael's craft stores/sections & just went thru & put 1 on every earring after almost loosing my favorite pair given by my Grandma before she passed. Works great & were only $2 or so! Worth every penny!

It was found! Yay! Just right before I left for Mom's/Christmas on the 24th, so I was super excited lol. They just have the regular backs, but the first time I was holding a baby & he swiped at my ear, b/c I wouldn't let him down lol. I found it easily, since it was a (mostly} clean, tile floor. This second time, my finger nail caught it & pulled it out. But I was very happy that the lady found it - undamaged, I might add! Which is saying something since she has 3 kids, 5 cats, a huge dog & a husband all going in & out!

Christmas was pretty good - I got a lot of stuff that I wanted/told them specifically lol (but even then, it doesn't mean that I'm going to get what I want/asked for!) & some different stuff. I got a foot massager that I can't really use, because my feet are so touchy & sensitive lol. I'll have to work up to using it more & get used to it :p. I finally got my niece's quilt done - Mom did the last little bit of it haha. It was just the binding & she knew what she was doing whereas I didn't really know. But it's all done & ready to go to my sister's place.

I've started making a list of things for next Christmas that I want to start/make...if I get a list started now, then there's a greater chance I can actually get it done (before November)!

Hope you all had a great Christmas!

33 here. Dirty blonde hair, so I'm not showing gray. I just shed like a golden retriever and have a small spot I think is thinning more than the others. :( Could just be my meds. *shrug*

It doesn't bother me... I just figure its another year I've survived.

Happy belated birthday Tasha! Hope you had a good day!

Colina/rubyleesmom, I usually get the same looks as you...but it depends who I'm around. I tend to "find" crafty people, so we're all doing something crafty, whether it's yarn or needlework, or whatever. Of course, a lot of people think I'm crazy too, for wanting my own self-sufficient farm. Especially because I'm still single.

Speaking of being single (and I mentioned it on The Porch), I joined Farmers Only...still not a "premium member" but hopefully this week it will be! It's taking a long time for the payment to go through, why I'm not sure, since the money was there, and any other time I've used Paypal, it's gone through in a couple of days. Oh well. I have 2! messages waiting for me when it finally does go through, so that's kind of exciting. Hopefully it's better than eHarmony.....

Hi y'all! I'm gonna turn 35 in February and I find that I feel too young to be getting grey hair really! I cover mine, usually just temporarily. I decided that as soon as I get some good crow's feet then I will let my hair go entirely grey on its own. I get strange looks too when I sit in the doctor's waiting room and cross stitch. People also think I'm nuts when I glorify my chickens and actually iron my good things with starch and wear my favorite knee length striped cotton farmgirl dress all summer. But my family loves that about me, and I love that about me, so maybe that's why I don't feel bad at all about being a 30 something. Just the premenopausal stuff can be annoying. Anyone else dealing with that this young? My mom was average age when the change came on to her...my doctor just laughs, says I'm too young. Guess HE doesn't have to deal with hot flashes and nausea most nights huh? Oh well!

Great to see a 30's Farmgirl thread!

I saw this group and thought I'd better say Hi before it's too late! LOL I'm 39... Less than six months away from the big 4 - 0 ! Okay, wow! Hadn't really thought much about it until I just saw it in print. Yikes! I am pretty gray, but I dye it. I go through phases where I just leave it alone, but the last time I got new glasses I picked out a really cute, funky frame... I just couldn't have gray hair with these glasses! So, I dyed it... I should probably hit it again as the roots are fighting their way up.

Honestly, I don't think the thought of 40 bothers me so much. I don't feel almost-40, whatever that's supposed to feel like. Trust me, I just skipped through the grocery store parking lot with my 6 year old son. Definitely not feeling too old to skip! ;o)

Pam..I too tend to gravitate towards crafty people. I dont have alot of "close" friends but those I do choose to spend my time with love to do things like crochet and make jewelry. Most of them are quite abit older than me (at least 10 years or so) but that is how it has been all my life. Stephanie..it is great to have family that understands, supports and loves the farmgirl in us isnt it? As a matter of fact, it was one of my sister in laws who introduced me to MaryJane's Farm! I just wish she would become a sisterhood member! I will keep nagging her until she does ;) As for how I cope with my 30's? Its not so much the idea of the age, but the fact that there is so much that I still want to do with my life and the older I get, the faster the time goes!

Hi Ladies,

I have been "away" for a while, mainly just trying to avoid my computer since I have to be on computers so much at work...but I'm back because Farmgirls are like a breath of fresh air for me. So I'm getting caught up on the boards.

I will turn 32 next month. Turning 30 was hard for me. My husband just teases me because he is 40 now, so he doesn't have much sympathy. Plus, he started going pre-maturely grey when he was in his late teens and has been fully grey for a very long time.

My grandmother died 2 months before I turned 30 and she was my last grandparent & we were very close. Then I turned 30 and went, where the heck did the last decade go? Those two events brought about a huge change for me... I decided to have a baby. Sort of a funny way to come to the conclusion, right! I had never thought I wanted to have a kid. I just didn't think I was cut out for it, I don't know a single thing about babies. But losing my last grandparent sort of made me stop and think wow, my family sure won't always be the same & time is just passing. I realized that I wasn't going to be young forever. So after much discussion with hubby the decision was made. It took a while, but I am now expecting a baby in July. I still don't know a thing about babies, but I guess I'll learn the hard way! Hubby & I have been married for 5 years and I have a 17 year old step-daughter, so it is going to be a big adjustment for him too! Fortunately my step-daughter (who lives with her mom) is very excited and is planning on moving in with us after she graduates high school, at least until she figures out what she wants to do (to be our "live in babysitter"-her words, not mine!)

Sometimes I feel actually older than my age physically, mainly because I have had chronic backpain since I was 28 (caused by scoliosis), but mentally I refuse to think of myself as "getting old."

I look forward to talking with you ladies more.

Heidi

Hi everyone,

I'm 31 and brand new here - this is my first post, actually! Congratulations on your impending mommyhood, Heidi. I just had a baby (second baby, third kiddo) in October and despite the lack of sleep sometimes, I'm loving it. Babies are the best.

Hello everyone! I've been mia since I got my tonsils out last Monday & finally just got home to my place late last night. I was at my cousin's for the week, which wasn't too bad. A little louder than I would have liked but, on the whole, it was good. Now to "recover" enough to go back to work on Thurs/Fri....I don't want to!
