I am happy to say that this will be my last pregnancy (5th baby, 6th pregnancy). I usually just wear sweats, rubber band jeans, and oversized t-shirts. For just about a year now I've had a problem with feeling like I've lost my femininity so hoping for something a little more womanly. I've checked the maternity stores and the bold fluffy chic city look doesnt suit me. I'm to the point now that none of my jeans fit and I had to break out my oversized shirts. What did you wear while pregnant? Any thrifty or cheap ideas?

I made elastic waist band extenders that hooked on button and with a button for other side, and old fashioned full peasent style tops...

I mostly got hand me downs from a friend. Have you checked local thrift stores?

I like ELD patterns cause they are maternity and nursing wear. That being said I actually did get a Vera Wang sweater at Goodwill that was maternity for 4 bucks! lol
It's not being made any more but I also liked blessed design's florinda skirt is really easy to make and pretty, and can be worn pregnant or not, but beware it runs large so you may want to make a muslin and see if you don't feel comfy going down a size, I think I am going to make a smaller size next time. It also runs VERY long, even the shortest version I had to take out 4 inches, and it still drags on the ground. I think I will pinch out some of the pattern next time I make it, at least 6 inches, I like ankle length, not I'm tripping on it length. lol

Last pregnancy I didn't have any luck with thrift stores and haven't been at the new military base long enough to make friends here. I am going to go to good will on payday and hopefully find something useful *cross your fingers*

The vera wang sweater has been my only score for maternity wear at Goodwill, I did get a motherhood dress once but it was so short, I'm embarrassed to wear it.
Ask on Freecycle though as well. I got three nursing tops on freecycle last summer, I was shocked.
I've also gotten most of my ELD patterns for 5 dollars or less, and love them. I got several blessed design patterns for only 2 dollars each as well directly from their site.

I liked long shirts/ sweaters with leggings, the active wear sweats, the layered look (cami and flannel shirt) and I couldn't wear jeans for the longest time because my regular jeans were too tight in the belly even with an extender and belly band and the maternity jeans I had for my other two pregnancies were too big and wouldn't even stay up. I finally scored a pair of xs maternity pants at a thift store and basically wore them every time I had to go somewhere and wore sweats at home. Whew.

I'm also pregnant (with my 4th child) and I feel the same way. I really hate to spend the money on clothes I don't like. I made some maternity skirts! They were really easy. I bought some jersey knit fabric and made the waist line out of it. I'm due on July 18th, so I'll be pregnant winter, spring, and summer. Skirts are sooo easy to change season with and they should still fit after the baby is born, so I'll have something to wear until I can fit into my regular clothes.
For shirts, I buy long fitted T-Shirts, they will fit until the very end (usually, anyway..lol).
Congrats on your pregnancy! When are you due?

Just found out today that we are pregnant! I am always in the same boat...here is what I have always done in my past pregnancies: nothing. I wear my style of clothing and just modify a bit to be a little more comfortable. I like skirts a lot. most of my skirts are versatile enough that they can accomodate a baby belly. T-shirts (I buy fitted maternity t-shirts...or the kind with the gathers at the sides...they are good for after baby comes and you have that little pooch in your middle...) are a must and sweaters or cute denim jackets that show off my belly....in the summer it's tank tops and floaty skirts always. I really don't think much needs to be done in the ways of modifying.

I will be hitting the thrift stores Thursday. I had a sonogram today at the fetal developmental specialist. My due date is June 20th. I just wear waist high no stretch real denim jeans and t-shirts. They are modest but don't leave much room for altering or expanding. I have one maternity dress from two pregnancies ago that I'll never get rid of because it was my high school graduation dress my daddy bought me for finally finishing high school. He felt so bad because he told me I would never graduate high school with two kids a divorce and and far into a pregnancy by 20. My ex husband gave away or sold everything I had when we were married including everything that was my kids as babies and all maternity clothes. It's ok I got the kids and stuff can be replaced.
