We have a couple of little apple trees that are producing beyond their ability to hold up the apples. We had to remove at least half of them. What can I do with them?

Cindy Lou, with fall around the corner how about drying some of the apples for use on wreaths and other fall décor. Strings of sliced apples look great just hanging around.

Are these apples a green variety or just a red variety that is not ready to use in any way? If they are a green variety and you could eat them, you can can them into applesauce, apple butter, apple pie filling etc. If they are premature, perhaps one of the Farmgirls can weigh in on if they are edible by livestock ? I hope there will be a good use for them. Maybe this over production means you have to prune it back for next year's production cycle. If you have an extension agency locally, they might be able to help you with what you can do with the apples as well.

dehydrate them, and they will sweeteen enough to eat, or feed them to your livestock
