Welcome Donna to the Farm! I grew up in Charlottesville, Va. and my husband grew up in Norfolk. We have visited historic Portsmouth many times and love it's old town portion. One of my favorite shopping places there in the old section is The Kitchen Coop. Have you ever been there? It is such an awesome place for anything related to cooking. Plus I love the historic brick building that it is housed in. I hope your upcoming surgery in March goes easily and that you will be back here for lots of Farmgirl fun after that!!

welcome Donna !!
This is a wonderful site to be on!
HEY in my opinion you do have a farm of sorts with 2 acres!
I am stuck on about half acre but hey making it work.
you can do all kinds of ''farm girl'' things now !!!
and I also think your birds sort of count like a cousin of sorts to the chickens???
bet you will have some hens soon.... tell hubby the eggs will be worth the effort! mine didn't used to be thrilled I got my hen girls until I got sick and he had to do my chores for a month and well he up and spoiled my girls even worse!! He loves the girls now fusses over them.

will be praying for your surgery to go well and fast recovery.

Welcome Donna! I’m so glad to see that you have found us! 2 acres is plenty of land for your farm and future chickens. Hopefully soon your husband will come around and see how wonderful chickens can be. I love to crochet too. I am actually just learning how now and have really enjoyed it. I am so sorry to hear of your cancer. I hope the surgery in March goes well and you recover quickly.

Welcome Donna. Feathered and furry friends are common for most of us whether of the farm variety or not. Don't down-play your 2 acres. That is more than us city slickers have. Hope you can get some girls to keep you company with the added advantage of giving you eggs.

Hi Donna,

Welcome... I too am living in suburbia. A farm house with some land and some chickens maybe in our retirement 10 years from now. In the mean time i enjoy making jam with summer fruit, sewing aprons and working on my vintage-decoupage-art. Hope and pray all goes well with your surgery.

Hi Donna, welcome! You will love it here. You just have to jump right in.
We were stationed there in VA back in '86-'90. My youngest was born there. Always loved our time there.
