This has been going on for months, and I just put it all together. We shop at a chain store and get their ads in the mail. I look through it and see some things I need and go purchase them. A few weeks ago I looked at my receipt and noticed that they didn't give me the sale price, AGAIN. I thought it was just me and that I didn't read the ad correctly. So I started paying attention and whenever I get their flyer, I go and check the store, and sure enough NOTHING is on sale!!! This happens over and over. I asked the clerk what was up and she told me that the ad is for their other stores, but it clearly states that my town is included. This can't be legal, right?!?

I would think that it's only legal if there is some lil fine print somewhere that says something to the effect of all items may not be in all stores or something.
And I've also found no matter where you shop that you always always need to check your reciept before you leave the store. I almost always find an error in my favor.

I've noticed a store near me (not groceries) marks prices up and then puts things "on sale". People think they are gtting a great buy but they are really paying every other stores retail price!

| I think you should approach the customer service department. Make sure you have the add and the receipt. If nothing is done and there is no legalese micro script at the bottom I would report them to the Better Business Bureau and possibly your State. Think of how many people are going in because of the flyer and being ripped off! Hopefully they will work with you and remedy the situation. |

Is this a big box store or a local chain? I work in advertising, so I can tell you that most ads do have a disclaimer that says something to the effect of "some items not available in all locations". If your ad doesn't say that, and/or your exact store location is actually printed on the ad, you should be able to get a price adjustment at the customer service counter. If they won't adjust it for you and don't have a satisfactory explanation as to why they won't, I agree that you should file a complaint with the BBB. You can also inquire at the BBB whether other similiar complaints have been filed against the retailer.

Skip the BBB and let your states Attorney General's office know. That's part of what they do, protect consumers from agressive advertising and businesses that don't deliver. They helped me get a refund from an unscrupulous towing company that impounded my car, would only take $386.00( eeeeegad!) in cash and in the process of "highjacking" me damaged both my front tires. They have alot of clout with business licenses being pulled etc...so they don't usually fool around. BBB will take your statement, maybe investigate but really has no clout other than to report that you complained about the business. It's really a membership driven organization most of the time, and guess who the members are? Good luck!
