That sounds like a fun day, Darlene. I guess we all love his nonsensical fun rhyming books.

I love reading and I love Dr Seuss! What a wonderful day this is going to be!!!! Did you guys know that there is a Learning Library now??? They are still the wonderfully rhyming fun books, but the Cat in the Hat teaches something as well... there is a money one, a mammal one, nocturnal animals, maps, and so many more!

I am sorry you missed our birthday celebration for Dr. Seuss. We enjoyed green scrambled eggs, ham, a biscuit with real butter, choice of grape or strawberry jam, Orange juice and fresh raspberries...all for snack time. I showed the kids the green eggs my hens had laid and asked if the scrambled one's would also be as green as the shells. They all said yes. Ho ho ho, they were much greener...(due to green food coloring)but quite tasty. The kids were good sports and only two little girls did not eat their serving. They made Red Fish, Blue Fish glasses and a tall striped hat. We read our "news paper story about Dr. Seuss, sang happy birthday to him and names our favorite book that he wrote. Then we had show and share. Maggie had brought brightly colored eggs filled with confetti and we went outside and she gave us each three to crack in someone's hair. That was so much fun for the kids and teachers too! A local grocery store sells them, and it is so much easier than when I used to spend hours preparing to let my classes make them. It was a good fun day. Now I am pooped!!!

Oh my, Denise, grammar wasn't my favorite thing in school and still isn't. I'll try to do better today.

I thought it was cute. Better than the grammar police, as my kids always called me.

I guess, that grading all those papers and sitting through endless English classes, makes me aware of boo boos, but I only once said anything in public...the day I stood there at Allsups pumping gas, and read the message in the little window. It was so bad that while paying for my gas, I very nicely suggested they check what was there. I guess they did because two weeks later it made sense.

Since my last job was as a technical editor, and one of my favorite subjects was English in school, I am always finding incorrect grammar or spelling everywhere around me. I find grammatical errors in almost every novel I read, wrong measurements in patterns/instructions printed in quilt magazines, spelling errors in menus and on signs, and in posts on Facebook - plus in other places, too. I remember one thing I did bring to someone's attention (it was not grammatical, but it was defiitely incorrect) - I was in a local restaurant and they had the Texas flag framed on the wall. It was upside down in the frame and had the red on top and not the white. I brought it to the manager's attention, and the next time I was there it had been re-framed and was correct.

I have a cross-stitch sampler my mother did once and I've always loved it. It says "Don't rush me. I'm making misteaks as fast as I can." It is wrong on purpose and I've always liked it. I'm such an editor that when I typed it above I automatically corrected the word and had to go back and spell it wrong. LOL!

When I read posts on our local breaking news site, I cringe. I can not help but wonder if those folks even took their brains to school with them.

Linda - love the sound of cross-stitch sampler!!!

There are some things I catch while I am reading... but I must admit that I am HORRIBLE about ending a sentence with a preposition!!! My brother-in-law, whenever he hears "Where is ___ at?", he always says "between the a and the t." I've started picking up on that phrase and use it myself at times... it helps me to catch what I am saying, and helps me to reorganize the words so that the prepositional phrase is where it should be opposed to the end of the sentence.

Yesterday when my phone rang, I was so surprised, it was my cousin. I had been concerned about him, because of his health. When we last spoke in October, he said he would call me next time. We used to talk about once a month...So five months was a long time. God answered my prayer and he called. I was so happy, still am. He is not ok, but his wife is with him, so I know he is eating, going to doctor appointments, etc. She recognized his depression and the doctor prescribed meds. I am so glad he called.

I can't believe it. You, me, all of us missed yesterday "The First Day of Spring". I worked in the yard a little and thanked the Lord for such a pretty spring like day. It was such a nice day Annie and I sat out in the little sitting area between the carport and neighbor's wooden privacy fence. It's my secret garden. So to all of you a heartfelt but belated

Happy First Second Day of Spring

Sara, once I had a secret garden. I put a few bricks down, planted flowers in boxes for a border, hung hanging baskets from an old bent tree trunk or two, and put my little garden furniture there. I paid a neighbor lady $10 for metal chairs and a little table. It was wonderful. Very humid because I watered daily and lush with greenery and flowers. I need to make a new secret garden. Thanks for reminding me.

The way I see it goofing off is a first cousin to piddling so this one is easy for me.

Linda all you need are two or 3 sections of trellis near a door to create a secret place to turn into your own secret garden.

In my backyard next to the front chain-link fence is a metal T-bar metal clothesline pole. That's the section of fence that's the back of my secret garden. I haven't watched the shade/sun there so I need to so I can hang baskets of flowers on it. It will help shield my SG from the neighbors looking over their back fence. Can't be a secret garden if others can peek into it.
