Lovely quilts, Carole! I'm learning to piece in Linda's BOM on the main site. Man, is it fun! I'm working on an outfit to wear to my nephew's engagement party in a couple of weeks. I'll post a picture when it's finished. I wish I got more sewing time!

Happy Day!

Amy, Quilting is fun. I don't know about sewing. Sewing always causes my not so good side to come out! Not sure why, I think it's because I do not understand the lingo! Looking forward to seeing pictures. Cheers!

Ladies, I recently mentioned that I was making and painting a summer Mrs. Claus outfit. I have learned that the Parade of Santa's and their Mrs. Claus' will be July 7th at 8:00 am, in Branson. The parade will be on Good Morning America (ABC tv). There are 1000 Santa's this year, so I may not get to see the outfit, but I plan to watch just the same.

Marilyn hope your outfit is one that is on TV. How fun for you. I have never seen or heard of this Parade before. I hardly ever watch Good Morning America. Usually, to busy. Will try on the 7th. Thanks for letting us know.

I'm still working on the quilt when I can. Time spent on it is hit and miss around here. I have the blocks finished. Putting them together today. Have the top about halfway finished. Will work on it tomorrow time allowing. Appt. in the morning for dad so we'll see. Too hot to do anything but sitting at the machine doesn't make me warmer so.....

Today, I tried my hand at making a little garland for Fall made from some small gourds, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, faux green apples, and a few green rag ties. I really love these all natural (except for the apples) garlands for fireplaces so using only what I had on hand, this little garland took shape.

Does anyone else make these sorts of things? If you do, what do you like to put together? I have seen pictures in magazines of garlands with things like sections of dried corn, nutmegs, and other hard nuts. My issue is that I don't have a small drill to make a hole in hard items like nuts in order to be able to string them together. The gourds are soft enough that an awl did the trick for punching a small hole.

Winnie, that is a cute seasonal garland. I have used pine cones before, at Christmas, mixed with greenery etc.and plastic Easter eggs for an Easter garland. I used a hot ice pick to put holes in those. Teaching, I have made lots of paper seasonal garlands as a way to display the art work the children made. I have made ginger bread people, hearts, etc. using fabrics and felt. I think they add a festive touch.

Just wanted to show what I just finished for the new baby across the street. I love the colors.

.
The baby's name is Astrid Vail, different but has a great meaning. She is a tiny little thing. so this should fit her for a while.
It was fun to do because of the colors.
Well just wanted to share.
hugs

That is the most beautiful fleece blanket I have seen. Those colors are outstanding. I love that the flowers are not all muted or fuzzed out like some fleece.

Thank you, I have had it upstairs for a long time and thought it would be perfect for a baby. I loved working with it because of the colors.
Yeah there are alot of fleece that doesn't have a clear pattern. Both colors have a great print on them.

Yesterday, I took some of my apples that I got last week in NC and made a sweet apple relish and this recipe for Apple Cheddar loaf that I found last year when I was doing the apple badge. It all tasted delicious!!

I used MaryJanes' ChillOver powder and added a bit too much to the relish so it has a stiff texture . But it tastes good and spreads out on the warm bread with no problem. I was making up this recipe as I went so my measurements were not perfect. I ended up with 5 jars which will be great to have on hand.
