Thanks Winnie and Darlene.

I have 3# of Granny Smith apples to make apple jelly with different herbs. Found this recipe where you put fresh herbs or edible flowers in the bottle of the jars and add the apple jelly. Depending on how many 1/2 pint jars I get I will use rose scented geranium, thyme, sweet marjoram, rosemary, and I want to try sage. I won't know how many jars until I make the juice.

Yesterday evening I discovered one of the comfrey plant's leaves had broken from the time I had checked it yesterday morning. A squirrel was had broken it while looking for a place to bury a pecan.

I started a batch of healing oil with it. This morning I added 3 sprigs of fresh rosemary to hot olive oil and steeped before adding the oil to the comfrey oil. Comfrey oil is good for such things as scraps; rough cracked feet & hands; minor irritations. Rosemary also a medicinal herb helps to boost the healing. Yield three 2oz bottles with eye-droppers.

Checked on what I have fermenting. Snack tomatoes with basil were ready so I put them in a qt jar and put in fridge. They are so good and not too acidy. Took six days.

The daikon radishes have a good flavor but need to go a little longer. No sign of bad mold but did have some mold on radish leaves I had on top so I threw the leaves away and wiped the top of the jar; and put bok choy leaves on top to help keep radishes under the brine.

The red cabbage sauerkraut taste so good and is so pretty but it too has a way to go. No sign of bad mold.

Canning today: Cantaloupe jam and cantaloupe pickles. Jam is done and all sealed. yield 4 half pints.

The pickles will stand in vinegar spice mixture for two hours so at 11a.m. I'll continue with the recipe. I like recipes where I get to rest between steps.

Sara, thank you. Thank is so sweet of you. I'm not a cantaloupe fan but perhaps dh and Pumpkin would enjoy it! Not sure what it is but I can only eat cantaloupe with prosciutto! Oh, but I much prefer honeydew melon with it but will tollerate canteloupe! lol

Made compound butter with winter savory & lemon grass I dried. Added S&P and red pepper flakes. It's in the freezer setting up so I can wrap it for ziplock bag.

Me, too - as for losing weight. With our traveling, and quilting and sewing as a major hobby, everything I do (especially looking at Pinterest and MJF) involves SITTING DOWN! LOL!

Yum, Carole!! I love to make quiche because it can be very flexible in what ingredients you can add. Plus, it is delicious for any meal with a side dish.

Marlee your breakfast sounds yummy.

I ordered heirloom dried beans to can and hope to start with the cassoulets tomorrow. They're grown in California from authentic French Tarbais seeds. A pound of dried beans should equal 4 pints.

The other seven beans I ordered are:
Moro - cross between pinto and black beans from South America.
Royal Corona Bean - Italian bean grown in California
Pinto Beans
Mayocoba - in pinto family from Mexico
Eye of the Goat - from Central America
Cranberry Bean
Christmas Lima Bean - from South America

All beans are gown in USA. I never knew there were so many beans until I was given a bean cookbook and searched for a source on-line.

Darlene I really like beans and they are so good for you. Soon as the thunder storm passes through (thanking the Lord for the rain) I'll be out in the Yellow Rose Cottage canning cranberry beans today.

Hopefully I will finish making pickles today because the tomatoes are quite bountiful this year. There is a bucket full on my table. Julie made hot sause and tomato sauce from the first picking which was nearly a bushel She even froze nine quart size freezer bags full. I am proud of her. She even made pickled beets recently. They stopped and purchased the beets from a man in Dublin when they went to buy horse feed in Gorman. My mouth still aches, so we will see how much I accomplish.

Marilyn, I'm happy you feel well enough to make pickles. Enjoy looking a the tomatoes for awhile. I always like to see baskets, bowl, and buckets full of garden goodies on the counters and table before I preserve them.

They may enjoy ripening a bit more. I asked about peppers and my husband indicated Julie picked them. I was thinking of hot sauce. But I can always freeze them then make hot sauce later.

This morning I pressured canned 4 pints beef broth I made yesterday. Just finished cooking angus ground chuck to can in the morning. Will skim off fat before heating up to can.

Also have a large pkg of assorted pork chops to made curry tomorrow and can on Sunday. Small batch canning has become my favorite past time.
