Does anyone know if there is a place on the MJF website where you can see what badges you have earned? I'm old and I have forgotten. (Get used to that. :) |

Sherone - The only place I can think of is the page where MaryJane announces who earned what badge - I think if you searched that particular forum you could probably come up with a list for yourself. |

YUP Erin!!! :) I changed it :) Thanks for catching my mistake!! I would encourage you to try it - it works so good, and smells so nice :)
I'm away for a good bit of June on business trips - so I really won't be able to join in on the book exchange until the 25th of June. I'll be away and back and away and back...so I'll try to catch what I can in between :) |

Sherone- You can probably email Brian for a link to the list of badges you've earned. I have my emails, so I just looked at that.
Joyce- I understand, just do what you can! :) |

I actually got rid of a bunch of cookbooks a couple years back... I just had "too many" so I got rid of around 100 that I did not use... and I still have quite a few! I love international authentic cookbooks! I go in sprees and want to cook that ethnicity of food for awhile. I have a couple from Thailand that I absolutely adore!
I think my biggest collection is fabric, lol. I have great ambitions to make something, buy the fabric, and then don't find the time to make whatever it was! So I have a huge collection of fabric! |

Jami so happy you made it here!
Update on the Gratitude badge- I emailed Brian and he said our plan was just fine. So we'll start on June 15th, read the one entry each day, and I'll start a separate thread in this folder for us to post what we're thankful for each day. Join in if and when you want to, and after you've done it for a month you can apply for the Farmgirl Gratitude badge.
Sound good to everyone? |

That sounds perfect, and exactly what I need! Hopefully my book will be here by then, though I certainly do not see why it wouldn't be! I think I am still going to hand write it as well, and I may blog it too.... I really need the encouragement and reminder to be thankful each and every day!!! |

Sounds great Erin! The book is in at the library for me - I will get a head start, I think, so that way I will be at the right spot when we get back from vacation :) I'll all update you at the end of the month what I was thankful for each day :) |

Hey ladies! I was going through my binder and looking at the badge requirements to see if I could possibly try for any other badges... and came across the Community Service badge. I've actually been working on this one for about 6 months, but have never posted about it... well I guess that isn't quite true, as I posted about it on the main forum.... but let me slow down and tell you a little about it.
My group I work with is HSAMF - Home School Association for Military Families. Being a military family and homeschooling adds a different dimension to both... military children often struggle with making connections, as we move too often and parents are gone quite often, which many civilian children struggle to comprehend. Add that to homeschooling, and you lose the opportunity to get to know your children in your schools. HSAMF is an organization that tries to not only support the homeschooling military families, but also to help the civilian and military families connect. When I originally started working with them, I was more part of trying to encourage people to join and making people aware of the organization. I spent many hours on the phone with different bases and emailing various homeschool associations in various states.
In October I took things a step further. I started a penpal program. It is open to all home schoolers, both civilian and military. Right now we have 240 families enrolled, which translates to over 400 children! I spend on average 20 hours a week working on the penpal program!
If anyone is interested in this free penpal program for homeschooling children, you can check out www.hsamf.org :) It has been a great way for the kids to practice their writing skills, as well as make new friends! |
