Nora,

Sexlinks are such good layers; I really ought to get some more but we probably have well over 50 chickens at this point, and well, you see the babies. My 'Lorps were not really great layers but it probably was just where I got them from. I am sure they weren't too selectively bred. My Easter Eggers are laying again and so are my Indian Runner ducks and it is so fun to get blue eggs!

Judy: yes we have a rainbow flock. I could never pick just one color. One day I'll post a picture of Magnus; he is a gorgeous Japanese bantam crossed with a millefleur. Drought is TERRIBLE. In 2011, I was ready to move anywhere with something green. It was horrible. We had animal cages lined up and emergency "go-bags" ready if wildfire broke out. There were fires every day, all around. I think the wind blew from February to November that year! We don't get a lot of high winds outside of severe weather but when we do, it's crazy.

Tammy: Glad y'all found the calf! Poor little gal. You will love your mixer. I have one my husband gave me and then my mom gave me hers for some reason (like I wasn't going to say yes about that!)I am so sorry for you guys up there and looks like ridiculous weather for next week as well. Yuck!!! It figures we are getting more cold here now that I have planted things. Oh well, I'll break out the blankets and comforters yet again for the garden.

It's been a busy week. An old coworker passed away and was buried today and another's mother passed and visitation is tonight. But on the good news front, no rain so far this week.

Nora...sorry about your co-worker. So, hard to lose people we care about and/or love dearly! My DIL's Dad is probably about on his way
to go Home to The Lord. She is dropping the kids off in a few minutes and then heading to her dads.

Teacher Tammy...love the Classroom Humor! You could write a Book after you retire girlfriend! That Classroom Humor would give a lot of
people a good laugh!

Judy...Glad you got the snow! We have two days that we might get snow this week too but I'm praying against it. LOL We had our 2 inch already that was good
enough for me until next year. If I want snow I will just shake one of my snowglobes. LOL

Have a Beautiful Day My Porchies and don't forget to pray for those who were devastated by those Tornados.

Hello ladies,
another snow day at home. I am so tired of snow and so ready for spring. Everyone in my neck of the woods is darn crabby. Yikes!!! Some more butterfly humor for yall. Yesterday we had chapel and I was sitting next to a kindergarten friend (we have kids in chapel families so they get to know each other)and I was helping my kindergarten friend. He says, "Mrs Schroeder you smell like you were milking cows. I said no didn't do that. Then he says nope you smell like cookies and milk. Why is that? I said I think you are smelling my tea. Well I like milk and cookies so I like you. I laughed so darn cute.

So I spent this morning working at home on report cards and finishing lesson plans. Now the afternoon is free for reading and tea. I just got two books from library yesterday and apparently winter is content to wreck havoc so I will curl up with a good book.

love and hugs

Tammy... sometimes God gives us more snow BECAUSE He knows we need more time to curl up with a book and cuppa tea. I mean... so MUCH turmoil in the world that we need to recover from and find our 'Happy Place' and just 'Be.' Yup... that's how I use my snowy weather... Precious time from God!
Nora, that pic of Duke is so adorable. Reminds me of an old dog we had when I was a kid. Mama said we kept our new order of chicks in the basement till they were big enough to go outside and every time they peeped really loud, he ran to the basement to check on them. He acted like a mama hen she said... worrying his little legs shorter than they already were. hahaha

Judy,
That's too cute about your dog and the chicks.

Cute picture Nora.

We just returned home from a trip to see our littles in Ohio. We always have a good time. My daughter took me to see my very first opera. It was called The Pirates of Penzance. SO much fun!

Now I have spent the last couple of days catching up on mail, laundry etc.

Denise, what a fun opera for a first! I saw that one on Netflix a few years back.
It had Kevin Klein and Angela Lansbury in it. Boy could they dance.
I never knew either one of them could 'bust a move' like they did. hahaha

It was so cool going to the opera house Julie! We were in the lower balcony. Wishing I had had a pair of binoculars but we could actually see fairly well and we were right in the center so it was all good. It was so funny!

Denise & Judy...I was on here yesterday and the 'puder ate my post. My Oldest Son had the leading role in The Pirates of Penzance. That was the first time I learned that
He could actually sing. LOL Great Play. I really enjoyed it. My husband and I have always loved Plays and use to go all the time in our younger years. My Favorite Theater
is in Cannon Beach Oregon. They kind of do Theater in the round...so you feel like you are a part of the Drama being performed. Another one we loved was a Dinner Theater in
Portland Oregon. We went to many Great Plays there. We also went to the Shakespearean Festival in Ashland, Oregon one year. A lot of their plays are done in an outdoor Ampetheater.

I had Bible Study last night. One of our younger women spent the weekend in the County Jail because her Teenage Daughter got her thrown in there. She actually was in from
Friday to 11:00 pm Monday. She asked for time to share all that happened with the Bible Study Group. It took her an hour and a half. She was so freaked out over the experience but God was there with her every step of the way. When you are arrested and thrown into the Jail they do a pat-down, Strip Search, and Cavity Search. For whatever reason they
did not do the Cavity Search (a God Thing). Also, when she had to go before the judge in shackles and hand-cuffs, She was the only one they unshackled and uncuffed...while she was there. Another thing, you usually have to sleep on a mat on the floor. But one of the women whom was herself in Jail, immediately came and took her and gave her a bed, where you throw you matt onto and you get one blanket and no pillow. She asked why she was given a bed and others were sleeping on the floor and she was told by the gal...because you
are considered an Elder (she is 53) and we show respect to our Elders. Then a gal asked her the next morning if she would pray with her...and Leasa said, Yes! When they were done praying and talking, Leasa said "How, or why did you think I could pray for you!" She said, "Because you have a God Glow about you!" And for the rest of the days and nights she was there many gals asked her to pray with them. And one gal asked if she could move her Mat and Blanket and sleep next to Leasa's Bed. Leasa said, Yes but why?? The gal told her that she felt protected just being in Leasa's presence. ~ So, even though Leasa felt like going to jail was the worst thing that ever happened to her in her life...God used her in a mighty way! Isn't He an Awesome God???? Even in that horrific circumstance God was there and used it all for Leasa's benefit, the gals who came to her...for their benefit
and for His witness and Glory through Leasa. She ended up having to hire an Attorney and pay him 10,000. Hopefully the Attorney will get it settled out of Court...but you just don't know. When Leasa finished sharing her Story...we put her in a chair and all gathered around her and prayed over her and Thanked God for keeping her safe and using her to help younger women feel protected around her. She should never have been the one sent to Jail...her 18 year old daughter should have been but in our State if cops have to come out for a Domestic Abuse Call...someone is going to jail and they don't really care which one. But once she was in jail...everyone said that she should Not have been the one arrested. But God could not have used Megan her rebellious daughter but He sure did use Leasa. It so reminded me of The Apostles getting continually thrown in Prison and their witness to others during that period of time. God says to "Count it all Joy...to be persecuted for His name Sake!" I don't think at the time that Leasa was doing much more than crying for herself, but still God used her to attest to His Witness of Truth and Hope to others.

Well, tonight...hubby and I and my friend Patti are going to a Gospel Concert. I'm tired and weary and so is Patti but Lord willing once we get there we will be blessed by
The Groups performing. All from the Gather Group.

Love and Blessings,
Peg

Peggy, what a wonderful story! Thanks for sharing that!
I even read it to Dave, since he works in a jail I figured,
Why not?/! Might do him some good.
Nora, glad you brought a new kitty home.
Looks like she has a white bib n white mittens.
I can't wait to see a clearer picture of her.
I hope Duke accepts her quickly.

Good evening ladies! We're slowly inching our way cm by cm out of the arctic zone we've been in lol Today we woke to a light fog, 8', with frost covering the trees, which I find so beautiful. I enjoyed lounging on the couch, sipping my chai tea and enjoying the view outside this morning. Temp got up into the 20's today so it was nice.

PeggyAnn - How horrible and frightening for your friend! What a statement too! Wow!

Nora - you're sweet to take in an older cat.

Well I've been on a roller coaster of late and I'm ready to get off it! Went to drive in for my first physical therapy appointment on Feb. 27th. A couple of miles from Rugby my front passenger side dropped really hard and then I noticed my tire rolling down the road ahead of me! It was sort of surreal - I remember thinking "so this is what that feels like." Always figured I'd be screaming if I saw my tire rolling down the road ahead of me but should have known I'd be more controlled lol The lug nut bolts broke for some reason and my tire came off. Benny was awesome - he came and picked me up, took me to physical therapy so I wouldn't miss it, met the tow truck driver and had him follow him to the shop, and then picked me up before we went back to the shop to see what the mechanic had found. The insurance said it would be 3 to 4 days before they could get a claims rep out to look at it and not to start repairs. The mechanic, who knows Benny personally, asked what my deductible was and said it wouldn't be that much so they went ahead and fixed it and I was able to drive it home.

Then on Mar 6th I'm on my way to Minot to the specialist when I get into Rugby and go to turn onto the highway to go to Minot when smoke starts pouring out from under my engine and through my vents in the car. Thankfully God was watching out for me because I was right by the mechanic's shop so I drove it over. Water pump had gone and spewed antifreeze all over the engine. Desi, bless her heart, came and got me and then drove me to Minot so I wouldn't miss my appointment. She'd already driven to Minot two days in a row for Dustin's appointment so I felt horrible having her drive that distance again. I bought her lunch and filled her gas tank in appreciation. Enough of this, I want off the roller coaster!!!

Ortho Surgeon says she thinks I ripped 2 of the ligaments on the outside of my ankle. She doesn't think it's broken but the physical therapist doesn't agree. I was surprised the ortho surgeon didn't do x-rays, MRI or anything. They did say if there is a hairline fracture that it would take 6 to 8 weeks before an x-ray would show anything. Another 4 weeks off and physical therapy for my ankle in addition to the pt I'd already started for my back. I can start taking the boot off and walking a bit finally. I can only handle about 1 to 2 hours without the boot before I put it back on. She gave me more exercises today to work on to stretch it a bit more.

On top of my personal issues, Benny's dad was hospitalized over a week ago, I think he was admitted Feb 28th. Got a text from Benny that they thought he'd had a heart attack and were taking him to the hospital. They still aren't sure what happened. They decided not to send him to Minot for further testing to see if he'd had a heart attack because he won't do anything if he did. He wants to die at home. He had the incident about 2 am in the morning but when he got out of bed left his life alert button on the bed and went to the bathroom and fell at some point. Then he tried to crawl back to his bed but couldn't get back in bed. He finally pressed the button about 11 am - my guess is he figured he wasn't going to die after all at that point and was tired of being in his urine and feces (STUBBORN!) They found nodules on his pancreas and in his lungs so they're telling the kids he's got pancreatic and lung cancer even though they haven't done any biopsy and aren't going to biopsy and giving him 3 weeks to 3 months. The whole situation is a nightmare because none of the kids want to tell him he can't go home so he thinks he's going to be discharged home and the girls are going to stay and take care of him. I've been stopping to visit on days I have pt but I'm about to stop because I'm not going to keep lying to him or avoiding the topic. If the fact he's not going to be allowed to go home doesn't kill him, I wouldn't be surprised if he's alive in a year he's so stubborn lol

Okay, I need to figure out something for supper. Take care everybody!

Tammy, you just don't have any luck lately, do you? I also like the trees with ice in them, they are so pretty. Thanks for sharing.

I was taking trash to the container site today and saw robins. None showed at my place though.

OMGOSH Tammy, I'm speechless at all the trauma you and the family are having!
Prayers for Yuns going up girl!
I loved that gorgeous pic! I bet you are wishing you could have just sat on the couch
and stared out that window forever instead of going thru all that other stuff, huh?
We are having 40's and lots of sun this week. Of course I know N.E. Ohio and that
this is just a bit of trickery to lull us into a sense of false hope.* giggle*
Nora ,we had a flock of robins a couple of weeks ago. Ain't they a boost to the spirit?

Judy: I remember Rusty running down those steps to check on the chicks! It was so funny! Love your "sense of false hope." Yup, that's Ohio! lol

Peggy: The best part of that whole awful story was the God Glow! Such a good story. Poor woman though.. I wonder how I would react to such a situation. When I think I know me... I don't. Kind of like Tammy's tire coming off..

Tammy: WoW! You need to get off that roller coaster! Love that snowy tree pic! Hugs and Prayers dear porchie ..

Seeing robins and hearing songbirds! Spring is here.. Lots of bushes breaking out in leaf and even the lilac has buds all over it. Trees also are budding.. and my most favorite part is the tree frogs... love my peepers... Canadian geese are honking again..

Got me some Sugar Snap peas. Going to put some in the ground this weekend. Am so hungry for them. I want to play in the dirt.. but mostly it's mud around here with more rain coming and the ground will not take any more.. sigh...

Patsy, Dave was just saying yesterday, about planting sugar snap peas. Ya'll must be on the same wave-length. Hahaha. Maybe I should plant some in the large flower box at the foot of my steps so they can climb the lattice and be handy to get too. Hmmm
Love to hear the spring peepers!

Peggy: Shorter posts and more of them is all I can say. :}

Judy: Planted those peas today since it's going to rain tonight AND all day tomorrow... maybe, just wait and see I guess. Jason was afraid they would wash away, but that's why it's so nice to have raised beds! They get all the water they need AND it drains off so nicely. He's afraid the seeds might wash out. Get some more seed, right? teehee

Good evening girls. We're hunkering down for ANOTHER storm, they've now moved us up to 2 to 4 more inches (UGGG). Jamestown is expecting another 8 to 12. Fargo hit a record amount of snow on Saturday. They were just saying this is the 17th worse winter they started keeping track (something like 126 years) and 4th worse for temperatures and snow combined. I'm ready for spring!

With the FB outage today I was having a heck of a time getting my FB page done but I did it! https://www.facebook.com/VirtualServicesbyTammy Let me know what you think! I'm hoping to have my webpage up by next week, depending on how hectic the weekend is.

I made salsbury steak for the first time this week! Benny said it was better than if we'd gone to town so that's a huge thumbs up from him lol I made sticky chicken in the crockpot with potatoes and sweet potatoes.

Patsy: I'm jealous! Robins! I fear I may never see them again lol Actually next week we're supposed to be in the upper 30's so spring MIGHT be awakening lol

PeggyAnn: Don't feel bad. The internet has been messing with everything I've tried to work on today. Frustrating to say the least.

Judy: Yes, I did wish I could just stay there and look out the window it was so pretty out.

Good morning ladies,
I pray this finds you doing well. I would appreciate your prayers for state. Nebraska is in a state of emergency. The western part was hit with a blizzard and the eastern part where I live is in flooding due to heavy rain and snow melt this week, there are towns being evacatuated and all rods into our town are closed. There are tired farmers and ranchers as they try to save livestock. The river flooded our pasture behind our house, we spent yesterday moving animals to higher ground. It was a long day, my hubby and I have not had school since Wednesday due to roads and flooding. Today they are filling sandbags to try keep time from overflowing into town and we are trying to keep our animals safe. It will take a long time to recover from this. We are tired but so thankful for first responders and that our house just had a bit of water in the basement. Bless my hubby who worked hard to keep our animals safe. My son can't even get home for spring break, thankfully he can stay in his dorm. Praying the sun will shine and the ice jam will move so water can go down and we can begin to fix and repair. That is for your prayers ladies.
This is our pasture this morning. The water has gone down so e since yesterday.
Love and hugs
