cut out my first quilt block. First thing tomorrow, I go to the store to get a new rotary . I knew it was dull, but jeez!! That's enough for a Friday night. I'll start with fresh eyes in the manana.

Grace, love your ribbon angels. Do you have instructions for them? I would love to make some for my Christmas packages and maybe my tree as well. I have so little tree decorations and am in the process of making different things when I find a few minutes here and there. Becky

I've made those. They are super fun and easy. Another easy angel is the one using badminton shuttlecocks for the body, ping pong balls for the heads, add ribbon, wings and hair. I got some at the Dollar Tree to use. I will have my grandtwins make them.

Everything all looks so cute and clever!
Andrea, anxious to see pix of your quilting. My mat. Grandma used to win blue ribbons for her quilts back in the day. Wish I had just one of them.
I want to try quilting. Potholders are a great idea! TW

Grace, I love your ribbon angels? Did you make them yourself and if so, would you be willing to share your instructions?

the Angels are easy peasy... you will need: 2" wide ribbon with wired edges for the body and wings. chennile (craft pipe cleaner) I used gold pipe cleaners bits & pieces of 1/4" ribbon (for the bow) 1" balls/mini ornament (glass or plastic-for the head) they usually come on a pic in the floral section as well as Christmas deco. gold thread or any floss thread (to hang the Angel)
for 1 Angel: cut 1 pc of 2" ribbon 8" long cut 1 pc of 2" ribbon 10" long cut a 5" pc of the chennile/pipe cleaner cut a 8" pc of the 1/4" ribbon
I use a glue gun so have a glass of ice water near by when you burn your fingers as I usually do!!! lol!
Take the 8" pc of ribbon and pinch/pleat it together and glue together. Take the 10" pc of ribbon, fold 1 /3 over and then the other 1/3 over (or glue the 2 ends flat and then take it and fold in 1/2 flat. (you'll make a circle of ribbon if that makes any sense and the flatten the circle w/the joined ends in the center) Now pinch/scrunch that ribbon in the center. Now glue the body ribbon pc onto the wings 1/2 way. Glue on the head make a bow and glue it on to just below the head glue the hanging string on the back take the chennile pipe cleaner and make a Halo w/a small stem... glue it on the back side of the head. now gently 'shape' the body and wings
Hope this helps....
after you have made the 1st one you'll get the idea..

Well since I'm sick and it's supposed to being pouring rain all day, I think it's a good day to work on my knitting. I've been slacking on that the last couple of weeks. I probably won't be able to do much on my merit badges until after the holidays though.

Grace, how cute those Angels are. I will be making them! Thanks for the instructions. I have been sewing table runners, lap quilts and everything else I decide to tackle. Almost finished decorating and then the baking begins!

I finished both arm warmers. It is tricky trying to hold a cell phone flashlight and my tablet to take the picture. I couldn't take a picture wearing both. Learned a few things with this project.

Also have been doing some crocheting. Found a video on you tube for these "wristers". I have never crocheted anything but scarves and small baby blankets. These were a lot of fun to make. I had to adjust a bit so the time invested was a few hours. The red pair was the first I made. They are a bit tight so will be a Christmas gift for someone else. The green pair fit a lot better.

Judy,,, is this your new machine? an embroidery machine?... DH & I had to make a trip down the mountain to town so I ran into JoAnns Fabric/craft store to pick up 2 spools of Bobbin thread,,, left with an arm full of fabric... How on earth does that happen? lol! Anyways,, I was drooling over the new embroidery machines... I just struggle with the idea of spending as much money on a machine as I would on an itty bitty economy car! lol! Go figure the 2 machines I drooled over,,, one was $6.900.00 and the other was $11.900.00.. both On Sale!!! um,,, I would need to use a lot of 50% off coupons to justify buying either...lol! So for now I will continue to use my old Bernina and my 3y/o Brother embroidery machines... HOHoHo!

Nancy,,, luv luv luv your fingerless gloves... I wore my red ones today (a gift to me from a friend back in WA.)... It's nice to be able to use the tips of your fingers and yet keep your hands warm... I have arthritis in my lower thumb joint and these type of gloves are just perfect... Yours are wonderful!

Grace, yes was expensive! However, this is my gift to me. I had a cousin who passed away about a year ago. He was my last remaining relative, with the exception of my husband and my three girls of course. When all was said and done I had enough money left over in his estate to buy this for me. It was quite an experience with lots of headaches along the way.

I am certain that your cousin would have been happy with your purchase. That is quite a gift.

Hi Grace, Thanks for the kind words. A co-worker has a daughter that works for USPS. She wanted me to make her a pair but the red ones are a bit tight for me and her daughter is petite. I am giving them to my co-worker to give to her. I made another pair with sparkly yarn. I wore them this morning when I took my little girl out for our hike. They worked pretty good. I could hold my coffee in one hand and my walking stick in the other. With gloves or mitten both would be slipping out of my grip.
