I am just catching up and Connie, I love that sign about two Falls!! That canning jar lid pumpkin is pretty clever too!

I went on weather.com and see where a cool wave is dropping down from Canada and extending East as far as North Carolina and upper Georgia Mts. Nights in the upper 50s and days in the low 80s!! Ohh, how I wish it could drop just a few more layers down and give us a break down here in north Florida. LOL!! All of you you get a nice bit of Fall weather, enjoy it for me too. Ok? I will be hoping that you can get some nice porch sitting time with a cup of hot tea or coffee and enjoy the change. Sounds like heaven to me@!

I love all the pumpkin pictures. I'm getting excited about Fall decorations.

Connie, this little scarecrow is so darn cute!! Did you make this or is it a photo? It doesn't look to hard to do just looking at the picture. It would be perfect for a porch area!

Got my afghan out that my mother had, it has a big apple smack in the middle of it. Put it on the end of the loveseat!

All this fall and apple chat has me thinking apple butter. Does anyone else make it? It's probably my favorite apple treat to make and eat, besides Apple dumplings, of course!

Connie, the little scarecrow is adorable!

Judy, I love your idea for the perfect climate!

Happy Day!

Connie - loving the crafts you are posting! I have debated making that canning ring pumpkin for years... but hubby harasses me saying I need all the ones I have... might just go buy some ;) And that scarecrow - how cute is he!!!! He should be pretty easy to make!

Amy - we LOVE apple butter around here! Towards the end of September we will drive up to North Carolina to go apple picking. Apple butter, dehydrated apples, apple pie filling, apple peel jelly, and apple pie jam are always on the list to prepare and preserve :) I really need to try to find a GF version of apple dumplings. Wonder if I could use the gluten free mixture from MaryJane to do it. Hmmmmm might have to see what I can figure out!

Winnie - you sound like me ;) Wishing that cooler weather would come just a little further south east :) We are only going to be in the 80s today... but feel like we are in the mid 90s. But hey - it's a little cooler :)

Today, I noticed a neighborhood Dogwood quietly showing that Fall is officially on it's way! I caught this photo of a cluster of leaves that show signs of color change and red berries peeking out. Let's hear it for a reality moment from our Mother Nature! Despite the heat and humidity many of us have been dealing with in August, the days are getting shorter and the trees know it is time to finish up the season and prepare for a winter's rest.

No mistake about it. Fall is on it's way!!

I have made apple butter and I love it! I make it in the oven . . cooking in low oven. Smells soooo good!

Apple Butter is a favorite of mine as well! I have made it many times and it always turns out good. I also have this Apple Relish/jam mixture that I like to make sometimes too. Basically, you grind up the apples with their skins on and cook like a jam and season like apple pie. The result is awesome on sweet potato biscuits or pancakes!

Okay, I changed out the decor in my bathroom to what I consider "fall for the bathroom". But, the color theme is light teal and peach.

CeeJay, pastel fall colors ~~~ let me think about that ~~~ okay I thought about it ~~~ a kinder gentler fall that whispers instead of roars sounds pretty to me.

P.S. We all let our rooms dictate how we decorate them. No two rooms in the same house have to have the same colors.

Amy, I used to make apple butter outside in a copper kettle on an open fire as part of a demo for a historic house. We'd make about 30 quarts. I don't do that any more but I make smaller batches on the stove top. It is so good. Yum.

CeeJay, I think pretty browns go perfectly with peach and light teal for a Fall theme. There are lots of ways to include browns like squirrels, acorns, oak leaves, owls, pine cone..... I am sure there are other things too. With your creativity, sewing skills and stash of fabric, I bet you can whip up a few accessories like hand towels or small runners to add in your bathroom if you are thinking you want to add a little extra to what you already have in place. I bet it looks really nice in there too!

Winnie,
I probably won't add anything to the bathroom, because it's pretty well "covered". I'm like that! BUT there will be fall colors in the rest of the house, when my apple theme "expires". The bathroom will stay that way until Christmas when I'll change it out for Christmas colors! Yes, I decorate my bathroom for Christmas. The only rooms in my house that don't get decor changed are my bedroom, my project room, our office and the utility room.

Yesterday at Dollar General I bought a cloth blackbird on a bamboo stick. I am not a fan of things on sticks so I will take him off it and perch him on top of the dried gourds & small pumpkins that are kept in a round wooden cheese box.

This year I hope to paint the box yellow to match my shutters. The gourds & pumpkins will probably need another coat of hairspray to protect them on the front porch.

I love Dollar Store finds Sara...It is still very warm here but the environment just looks as if it's time to transition from Summer to Fall...as my dad used to say..."Fall is in the Air"...we have had some cool breezes and a few leaves falling...so it won't be long until the beautiful Fall season begins...

Hugs!

The clothespin apron's colors I made for the Jubilee remind me of fall, so, I hung it by my front door today. Somethings are just too good to use only once a year.
