I'm picturing your outfit in my mind. WOW! Pearls add elegance to any outfit. They are my favorite gem.

maybe i'm strange, the normal smooth round pearls really don't interest me. i like the odd shaped bumpy ones. i keep seeing them in my fire mountain gems catalogue and want to order a few strands to make a funky set out of.

Not strange at all corrine. I have some grey biwa pearls that are really bumpy. It gives them a nice rainbow effect. I feel like it makes them more casual. This string makes me want to wear a strand ;) I am going into the big city today. Coeur d'alene here I come. I have a brown strand that will be great with my brown t shirt, $3 teal cardigan, jeans and Birkenstock shoes, that look like Mickey Mouse feet. Now that's dressing pearls down.
oooo Fire Mountain Jems. I grew up about 7 miles from their warehouse. I can't get that catalog, or i will go broke.

Corrine- I prefer bumpy, natural looking pearls as well. I have a set of cultured pearls that my mom gave me to wear to the prom in highschool. I went without a date so it was heartwarming for her to that for me. I still have them and cherish them. I'll be bringing them to Idaho for BBB!

Thanks a lot Corrine, Trish and Carrie, now I have to find out about bumpy pearls, which means I will probably have to get a string. I like the sound of the brown color... your outfit sounds smashing Trish!

I like the Fire Mountian catalog too, haven't gotten it in a few years though. I really like Shipwreck Beads, out of WA.

I'll have to look into this Firemountain catalog, too...I like the bumpy ones as well. Honestly, I just like pearls...it doesn't really matter :)

Today I had my annual Mammo. Yep, you guessed, I may have been half dressed but I wore my pearls! Didn't feel quite as naked.

this tread is making me think that every farmgirl needs a strand of pearls. maybe when i order mine from firemountain gems i'll buy enough to make strands for my mama and the girls. the girls would love to have new treasures for thier hope chests.

I like your idea of giving your girls pearls. I think it is a great idea. My youngest graduates high school this month, might be the thing to get for her!

My mother bought just bought Violet her first pearls--a baby bracelet with a little clasp made from sterling, in the shape of a honeybee (how cute!?!?) I can't wait till her skinny little wrists get a little bigger, though I am NOT wishing the time away :)

Jonni, what a sweet gift. And a honeybee clasp to boot! It is hard for me to believe my baby graduates. The time really does fly, so do enjoy every second of everyday.

Oh I agree! I wear them with jeans all the time! I have a pretty pink freshwater set -- very reasonable. I got one white set at a consignment shop. I think pearls make you feel great with everything!

I adore pearls! My sister and mother both love all kinds of jewelry but I was never interested, except for pearls. A few years ago my parents gave me a nice strand of real pearls for Christmas, and I was speechless I was so thrilled. I treasure them and love to wear them often!

I have always worn a single strand of vintage graduated pearls with anything I have on. There is just no way to describe the cool silky feeling they have when they move just below my throat. I feel like a princess with them on. We are going to have our 30th anniversary this year so for my birthday Ivan bought me a 3 strander of graduated pearls. He hit the spot on that gift. My daughter in law will be giving us a grand daughter next month and we are giving her a set of pearls to let her know what a treasure she is giving us. They just seem so lady like.

oh you gals have made me miss my pearls! my mother gave me my granmother's single strand necklace to wear on my wedding day, I'll have to dig it out! my mom's so funny, she's really into jewelry and LOVES buying it off of the home shipping network. she's shown me some stuff that is not anything I would wear, so I told her pearls are safe, and away she goes! moms are fun ladies :) I'm glad i get to be one too.

yay! pearls and jeans here I come!

I have always loved pearls. My FIL gave me and my MIL pearl earrings for Christmas back in 1974. They were my first pearls. In the last ten years I have worn pearls alot. They just feel right. Pearls go with everything. A finishing touch to casual dress, lovely with an apron, and always beautiful with a dress. I have a nice strand of FWP's but mostly wear fake ones. I have always wanted a pearl ring. Never got one but recently found a fake one with fake tiny diamonds surrounding it. I love it but only wear it when I am dressed to go out. My first love of pearls started when I saw the "Beavers" mom "June" wearing them on Leave it to Beaver. She was my idol.

This makes me think of Julia Child cooking in her pearls. I love pearls. My hubby gave me a pearl necklace on our wedding day and I love to wear them.

I wear pearls all the time too! I wear my expensive set that my hubby bought me years ago for a Christmas gift for fancy occasions, and then I bought a set (necklace, bracelet, earrings) from QVC that was under $50 for everyday wear. It has lasted me 5 years and still looks amazing. I live in south Florida, always hot and humid, but I don't care. They just look elegant and pretty. I see so many other younger girls wearing them now too, I am really happy to see them. They look just gorgeous with jeans and pretty tees in my opinion :)

Big fan of pearls...

Thankfully husband likes pearls even more than me, so he indulged me a few years back. I wear them often.

I love the reference to Julia Child and her pearls in the kitchen (literally and figuratively!!)

Pearls are my favorite jewelry...love them even more than diamonds!

A painting I did a few years ago features a voluptuous woman wearing only pearls.

There's just something about pearls and how they make you feel when you wear them!
