I don't think there is any better heat than wood. I never thought I would be heating my house and cooking on wood stove. But four years ago I made that chose to live off the grid. I'm so happy I would never go back. I love life on the farm . |

I'm always so jealous of the smell down the street - they have a woodstove, and it always reminds of winter at "home". In the old house we grew up in, it had this giant old woodstove, and from the time harvest was done til we couldn't climb through the bush due to the amount of snow, we had to go cut wood. But it's such nice heat & smells so good! On of my dreams is to be able to have a woodstove in my own home. Some year....

Welcome to MJF forum. I love a wood heat. Cozy! Marly

We heat our home with a wood stove, too. It warms everything, the floor, the countertops, the chairs. Forced air just makes my face hot and the sound of the heater running and running tends to make me anxious. IT always wakes me up ... of course, the squeak of the wood stove door awakens me too! But, that sound tends to make me feel pampered by my dh who is tending the fire while I am curled up all toasty! Marianne |

Oh, how I miss the wood heat! We heated with wood for 10 years. The only 10 years of my life when my bones were completely warmed and pain free. Now we have propane. (next best) Lucky you. If you don't have one, try to get a log splitter. We think we would still be heating with wood if we hadn't killed backs doing by hand.

Yep, I just spent about an hour bringing in wood for my fireplace. It's supposed to rain a little so wanted to get some inside before. I like my wood heat too but it sure is alot of work. Which I need because I feel better after doing this.
Welcome to the forum by the way! Where are you in Tn? I am right below Chatt.

I love wood heat -- my Grandparents heated their home with it and it always reminds me of them. Love the smell:)
