Hi!I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Sydney and I love in southern MN. I have been a member of MaryJane's Heritage Jersey Organization for over a year, so I decided to check out the Farmgirl Connection. I live on a farm with chickens, beef cows, horses, 8 dogs, and my one-year old Jersey girl named AppleButter. The HJO(Heritage Jersey Organization) has helped me learn a lot about milk cows, I've had so much fun!

I'm a farmgirl from Minnesota. We live on a small farm called Green Forest Farm with chickens, 13 horses, 1 donkey, 5 beef cows, 4 beef calves, and my little one-year old Jersey heifer named AppleButter.

Thank you for such a warm welcome! I'm used to welcoming people on the HJO. It feels so strange. There is one other thing I forgot to say, I'm in 4-H and show horses, dogs, dairy, and some years I show poultry(we didn't get to last year because of the bird flu). I also sew, quilt, do art projects, veterinary science, jam/jelly, photography, food review, the list goes on and on! I am homeschooled.

Sydney welcome!
wow you have quite a list of things you like to do.
also... one of my wallabies name is Sydney which
has a joey in the pouch right now. will hopefully
be getting some updated photos soon, heads are starting
to peak. have 3 girls with joeys right now. will be
bottle time soon and NO sleep with 3 of them. lol
Sydney was a wild caught girl from New Zealand I was
friends with importers and helped them with shipments
of babies bottling etc..had to train them the best way
to do things anyway... she came over with her mama was
7 months old, I adopted her,she is a sweet girl.

LOVE the name of your jersey girl!

would love to see photos sometime of your quilts.
I am about to start on a quilt project for a friend
as a surprise. this will be my 4th quilt surprise
for a friend.. ha she is in Australia and a kangaroo
person too. want to do a kangaroo design with some
dot art aborigine style. thought that would be a fun
challenge! I am not so great at piecing but love to
applique. I like to draw up a design and then just go
for it.

You have quite a variety of animals. I had a wonderful
little donkey she went over the rainbow bridge time back
miss her still. would love to hear about yours. I had
ponies but had to sell recently I used to do pony rides.
what kind of horses do you have?

veterinary science sounds interesting! know that must
be a challenge and helpful with the animals you have.

I am trying to get back to doing more photography. used to never go anywhere without my camera. would love to see some of your photos. I am working now on the shutterbug badge.

I also was a homeschool mom, my boy is now 23. It was good
homeschooling and also the challenge of my life. ha ha

it was nice getting aquainted with you.

I would love to see pictures of your joey's. I love Veterinary Science because I want to be a veterinarian. I do love photography. I also love Laura Ingalls, I did a Laura quilt last year. I have a few new AppleButter pictures.
We have mainly POAs(Pony of the Americas), we have one quarter horse, a mustang, and the donkey. Our donkey is named Bugzy. We have 8 dogs, two are boxer mixes, one new Australian Kelpie puppy(in the picture), a Doberman, a corgi, and a few other mixed breeds. AppleButter is a silly one.

Our armfirl chapter River valley far girls, went on a glam ping trip to Laura sites in S.D., WI., Iowa and Missouri a few years ago. Wish you could have been with us. I would love to see your Laura quilt. We will be having a celebration for MJFJubilee in May. Hope you can come.

Thank you everyone! I love the HJO. It has taught me so much and I have met so many great people. AppleButter is one of my favorite things to eat(as in the food) and to pet/ give kisses(as in the Jersey) to. She is so smart and I will get to breed her later this year. I can't wait to milk her in a year or so.

This is Sydney a few years ago when she had kyeema peaking out of the pouch. one of my favorite photos.

this is a close up on kyeema. she is 6 months old here will be furring soon. I pull the joeys from moms at 7 months old and get them on the bottle so they will be social. which is important to have them that way as a pet. other wise would have a wild nature.
my mick was raised by Sydney and doesn't let me near him. Dundee I did handle somewhat as a little guy and can somewhat touch him depending on his mood.

Quigley is totally social and wants my attention when I go out. we used to play patty cake when he was little, how fast they grow up. he was a ;year and half old in this photo he is now 3.

my life with kangaroos is a interesting one especially during joey time. being a roomama is quite a job. my favorite time of year.

Welcome Miss Sydney. So very pleased to see you here (and there--HJO)!

Teresa, I'm fascinated with your wallabies. I had no idea. Their faces are so sweet. What a gorgeous animal. Do you breed them to sell or merely provide them with a loving home?

Thanks Mary Jane and everyone who commented on my kids - I am a proud "roomama" I will admit. lol they are a lot like raising a child from a tiny baby. they go through all the various growth changes even the terriable twos! and independent teen years. ha
I have had a pinkie (no furr) or two and that is the hardest....no sleep at all round the clock 3 hour bottles
keeping it cozy warm they are so delicate at that age.

I normally do sell the joeys I have had them go to Canada and mexico and all over the USA. I get inquiries for them
allll the time. almost on a daily basis it is unreal. my x husband made me a good website and people want MY babies. ha
due to the kidney failure problems and other situation
(long story) 4 years ago I surrendered my usda license
for a time. Had a lot of issues with drs and couldn't
work was in and out of ER and hospital a lot.
so cant sell any new joeys until license is renewed. SO
unplanned babies is a bit of a problem right now unless
they turn out to be girls. ha
I am in the process tho of redoing the roobarn and pens
and hope within a month to reapply for my license. then
will be back into business and back to doing outback
education programs when I have joeys out of pouch. I
am actually going to team up then with a animal educator
friend who recently got a big red joey. Jaxx is awesome!
we will do a lot of library programs with the roos.
I not only am starting to get my life back again but
about to get my business back again if all goes to plan.
My little mob are my pets first and breed second.
Pippi my oldest little girl is now 5 years old hard to believe!

people around here call me the kangaroo lady and
about this time of year they all start asking when will you
have new babies? they have learned the usual baby season times. They watch for the baby bag they know I carry them in to not look obvious. ha I carry what I have in a bag or little pouch that fits around my waist they ride like with mom on me - everywhere I go - even to church, usually have to give bottles half way through I go out in the entryway where there are chairs and a tv to watch the service. They sleep by me at night seldom do I put one in the hanging pouch to just sleep while I do other things. they are always with me. that is how you get them to be such social pets as mine are.

kangaroos are a very interesting animal! I have had them for 16 years now. my how time passes. I have such wonderful stories I could share.

what is kind of funny I also have a royal palm turkey "dobie" short for Doberman. he is the watch dog out back ha
He loves his wallaby family and prefers being with them. he is quite protective of them. first time I gave a joey a bottle outback when "dobie" came to live with us he got allll upset! he thought I guess I was hurting the joey holding it as I was and putting that thing in its mouth! ha ha
he finally learned they wanted "that thing"! but would still stand by me keeping watchful eye none the less. ha ha ha after being with us about 8 years he still keeps a eye on me when giving a bottle outback to a joey. ha ha

You would be amazed to find out how many people have a wallaby or two in their back yards across the country.
