Hey Ladies I finally figured something out I had to test the theory first before I went for it so send me your addresses again and I will send them out.

Amber could they be sent somewhat damp but with a new tea bag that the last batch was made so they could make a small batch with the old and new tea. Thus keeping the strain of the old Kombucha? While getting the new started.I think you sent me some and they got here just fine and I need to ship out some starters too.

I have a question about making the SCOBY. After you've made your first SCOBY, what do you do with the tea? Throw it out or can you consume it since it's been out on the counter for weeks growing? I'm unclear about this part.

I understand how to make my own Kombucha once I have the SCOBY, but if you are creating your own first SCOBY, not sure what to do with that.

Also, does heating up the Kombucha for hot tea destroy it or do you need to always drink it cold?

Thanks!!

Just to let anyone that needs to know about shipping, if you ship it be sure it is something that will not leak, I have shipped some before and one leaked and the PO wasn't too happy with me...lol...so after that I sealed them in 4 ziplock bags then wrapped in plastic wrap then in another bag...lol...then in a hard container that I wrapped in plastic wrap again..I wanted to be sure that it didn't leak again...I made my mistake when I tried to put to much liquid in a zip lock bag and didn't leave enough room and it got squished...which caused the leaking The person I got my first Scoby from just put it in two ziplog bags and it made it without leaking...but hers was only the size of a quarter and mine were the size of a gallon glass jar...hope that helps about shipping....good idea to ship them before it gets to hot, too...

Andrea the fermented tea is the goal you drink it for a healthy gut and a more alkaline environment in your tummy. You can can drink your first fermentation of Kombucha tea but I always think it's a tiny bit bitter so I just use the tea from the first batch to make another batch. It's a much tastier tea you use your last Kombucha to make more that way it has a nice clean taste and the cider vinegar flavor is more mild.

Oh by the way anyone who has sent me their addy is getting the culture sent out tomorrow. I'm not shipping it in any liquid I experimented with several cultures to see if they will survive like that and they will. I included ways to start Kombucha tea in my instructions without any Kombucha starter liquid. If you want to skip this process you can start your own batch using GT's organic raw Kombucha Original. It's in a clear bottle with white top and blue and white label. You can find it at most health food stores. I have a health food store that has an entire isle of Kombucha tea. One thing I forgot to mention if you heat for hot tea that will kill all bacterias in the tea.

I too, have several kombucha scoby that need homes ASAP.

At this point I most need shampoo. Does anyone make that? I am also getting ready to move so packaging tape or anything helpful towards moving would be welcome.

Life's short. Make today count.

Have you heard of the drink Synergy? This has kombuchu in it? Is it supposed to be tangy?

Did anyone ever figure out a good way to send them quickly and leak proof through the mail, last time I tried they all came back to be dead.

I had one mailed to me and it is still going.
It was wrapped in a triple zip-locks and some of the tea.
I put it in the jar and off it went.

Synergy is kombucha. It's ok, but I like G.T. dave's better. Don't really like the flavors for synergy.
