I used to go barefoot all the time, but my feet were really suffering, so I started wearing socks. I destroyed a lot of socks this way, and so changed over to wearing a pair of men's slippers (the kind with a little bit of a sole to them). Wondering if there's anything better out there? What do your feet wear around the house?

I have a pair of moccasins that I wear around the house. They have enough sole that you can wear them for running errands too. Just wouldn't want to try mucking out stalls wearing them...

Crocs! I have 2 pair I wear to work, I have a pair for slippers in a baby blue color with the lining. My feet are so bad that I can't wear many other shoes. I even wear them outside in the snow to get my firewood every day. I love them! They are not slick in the snow like Uggs are. I spent almost $100 on a pair of Uggs and they fit so well, are warm and toasty and absolutely worthless in the snow. They are without a doubt the slickest shoes I have ever worn so I have to save them for fall and spring.

Good ideas!! Cindy and Rose, do you mind spilling where you found your moccasins and lined crocs? They both sound so comfy! I used to have crocs for the yard, but they didn't feel like good 'house shoes'....lined sounds like a great solution!!

I am a barefoot girl. I hate winter for the sheer fact that I have to wear shoes. boo hiss. I carry shoes in my car in the warm months for the places I HAVE to wear shoes. In the house I am barefoot too, except in the winter. I wear woolies or slippers.

I have a pair of Skechers that I just love. They can be worn with pants or jeans too. They are very comfortable and feel great on my feet. I have a terrible time finding comfortable shoes, so I'm very glad these work so well.

Its flip flops for me. I have a pair of the leather Crocs that are very comfy. If you are looking for an indoor outdoor shoe, Id second that motion. Especially the lined ones. So comfy cozy!!:)
Even my kiddos wear them and its impossible to get them into shoes normally..lol

It is sketchers or nothing. Sketchers to work nothing at home. My DH is so funny he has to have the house slippers he will lay on the couch, take them off get up put them on, step outside put on regular shoes come back in put them on. I just don't wear em. Makes him mad but I never have. When I was little I used to hang out in the barn barefoot. Hee Hee Hee.

Socks in winter and barefoot in summer. But it has to be REAL hot for me to go completely barefoot, lol.
I never ever wear shoes in the house. Upbringing I guess.

I keep our house too cool in the wintertime to go without something on my feet. I have a pair of Minnetonka moccasins that I love. They're suede and lined with lambswool. They don't really have a sole, except that over time the bottom of the slipper has gotten kind of hard and leathery from walking on them. I got them for a Christmas gift...I think my husband ordered them online.

I am a barefoot girl, too. However, in the winter I have a pair of Isotoner slippers that are like clogs. Let me tell you they are the most comfortable slippies ever! I paid a little more for these but let me say, they were worth it. These have an "arch comfort secret sole" and when I put them on-my feet really feel better!

I make and am getting ready to list these on my etsy site. Check it out next week. They are knit and go over your socks,to keep your socks clean and from wear, are washable and I keep a big basket of them by the front door for guests and my kids when they come to visit.

During the Summer months I run around barefoot or use my Teva Flip Flops that I just love. They are cute and comfortable. You don't have to worry about breaking them in. They never cause blisters. During the winter this last year I bought a pair of slip on style uggs, pink with fuzzy in them. They have a nice sole, and I wear those all over the place, out side, inside. They are warm and easy to get in and out of! I would love to have a pair of moccasians but those will have to wait till later!

The key is supportive shoes. I'm happiest barefoot & in the kitchen but a foot problem stopped that quick - I couldn't walk barefoot without great pain. I scored by finding a shoe store owned by a podiatrist (Public Shoes, Arlington, VA). He put me in a really good pair of tennis shoes and told me to wear nothing but these for a month - never go barefoot routinely again (eck!). He put me in Etonic StablePro shoes but other good brands have a "stability" system like New Balance. Look for something with "Stable" in the description. When was the last time you had your foot measured at a really good shoe or running shoe store? Part of my problem was that after a couple of pregnancies, my foot had expanded and my shoes were too small. On comfy sandles, look for a good brand with arch support like Earth Shoes or my favorite is Chacos - they are like Teva's but with an arch and I wear them all summer long. Other plus on the Chacos is that they are made in America. HTH

Due to back pain It was recommended to me to wear Nike shock tennis. Well being they are 80+ dollars, I bought Wal-marts brand and wear them just in the house as my house slippers. They work awesome and if I do not wear them by the end of the day I am shot. I did buy the Nike brand for outdoor wear. and they are better then the off brand. I would rather be bare foot but I do like being able to walk at the end of the evening.

I wear UGGs slippers. They are a bit pricey, I bought them for 70 something bucks at nordstrom, but so worth it. I have had them for over 2 years and wear them everyday. They are a bit stained with baby spit up but still uber comfortable.

I have hard floors upstairs and concrete floor downstairs and I have to wear something with a sole, slippers just make my feet ache. I finally got a pair of Crocs and have been wearing them indoor only. They have the non-skid sole and if I wear them out, I get bits of grass and dirt in them. So they are only house shoes. But they make my feet hot! I found that if I wore my wool socks, they would wick away the moisture and I was more comfortable. Even when I wear tennis shoes all day, my feet are hurting by night.

In the winter, a pair of lined slip-on type slippers from LL Bean. They had a tough sole that I can wear to run out on the porch, etc.

In the summer, a pair of slip on merrills that feel like comfy sneakers. If it is really hot, barefoot or flip-flops.

I wear flip flops or go barefoot at home. In the winter, I always wear Uggs boots, without socks. I've been noticing some foot pain from the lack of arch support. Even Uggs have no real support, and there was something I saw on the news about how popular they are, but a podiatrist warns that they can ruin your feet if worn all the time. All you need to do is get arch supports (like Dr. Scholl for example) and put them in your footware. Any drugstore carries them. I did that, and it really made a difference. My feet feel much better.

I have these little cloth MaryJane style shoes with velcro straps and a thin sole that I wear around the house. They are really cute and just help keep my feet that little extra protection from the dog stepping on my foot or whatever :D I got the at Wal-Mart or Target for like $5 on sale. When they get dirty I just chuck the in the washer but they don't do anything for arch support.

I have a pair of very fake crocs (yes pink with flowers, lol) for the garden. I don't like to wear them often, just in the garden. In the house I still wear my socks with a pair of knitted slippers. Even in the summer I wear socks in the eve. I always have cold feet, so NEED that little warmth. BUT Elvis also sometimes lies on my feet, MMMMMMM :-)

We are some next-to-nature girls! I go barefoot all the time, and I can indoors in winter, too, living in Bama. Summertime, you'll find me either barefoot or in flip-flops when I can get away with it. I've always loved going barefoot outdoors! I walked on my tip-toes until I was 13 or 14, until I was made fun of for it, so heels have always been more comfortable for me. And that was kinda ingrained in me from an early age 'cause my grandmother came from a day and age when a lady never left the house without her heels, pearls, and red lipstick! But plantar fasciitis (sp?) stopped me cold with pain, so I don't wear them near as much as I used to. I have such a very high arch and Merrell's have the best arch-support found in a shoe. I have several different pairs I wear in winter. LOVE THEM!
